eventually you'll have to drop it to grain anyway to see what it does. if it looks reasonably healthy let it rip. I usually send decent looking cultures to grain at t1 or sometimes t2. if there's anything moving with the culture blind hope that subculturing to a new plate will shake it off tends not to work out. same sort of thing with sectoring, it depends entirely on the composition of the plates.

all agar will tell you is that there isn't any obvious mold or bacteria there and the culture grows reasonably fast. seems those boxes are ticked.

I followed Beef's Wheat TEK. Grains look a little dry and brown. Did I over cook them? Any input would be appreciated. Plan on using them anyways. First attempt at doing my own grains.

Looks like cooked wheat to me :shrug:

You don’t want them to look wet lol. Then they’d be too wet. The real answer to your question is inside the grain, which you can’t check without opening a jar. Run it, and if it performs as intended you’ll know for sure.

Yeppers, I've stopped feeling precious about them. I keep the best of my current favorite, but the old stock goes in the compost. I used to keep it all, but when I realized I still had mush from my very first harvest taking up space I decided to dump the superfluous felonies out back. πŸ˜‚

I’ve had all kinds of bacteria and mold with this one. Put one to grain and lost a jar. Could be my bad, as well. It was wreck. But I adore agar. Thank you for your response. I’m just happy I got one thats not funky. I got some WGT spores syringes, I am playing with now.

I don't think no matter how much I grow it will ever be possible to outpace what I need to stay tripping each week. Ounces, pounds. I'll find time in my schedule.

Even with a friend or wifey consuming some weekly too? I know you guys are producing pounds upon pounds per month sometimes... but I am still barely putting out weight right now so we'll see. A few ounces is just novice territory, which is where I'm at. So we will see as I improve in this hobby and my yields get better. KSSS and Nats around the corner but im already through 80% of my Burma, b+ and GT flushed except what is currently flushing right now.

I have only had one successful tub flush, and it lasted me about 6 months.  I don't have anyone to share with, I just like growing things.

If your consumption rate is steady you'll figure out what you need and you can get into a schedule that takes care of it. You just need a good culture and solid sterilization practices so you don't waste time with bad spawn.

I started taking mushrooms at the end of last year and found that they helped my mental state even at low macro doses, but the effects lasted at least 2-3 weeks so I didn't need them every week. I don't want to take them at home so I have to go somewhere, making the occasions even more rare.

I also got into meditation and several months down the line the effects are so significant that I don't really feel like I need the benefits of mushrooms, but I still enjoy them occasionally. At the rate I'm going a single shoebox's worth will last me like 2 years. My lifetime use in almost a year has been less than an ounce, maybe no more than 1/2 oz.

I'm only still growing because I want to improve my skills and try out different varieties to see if I find something that I like a lot more than the others.

same. i'm still working on getting down a small APE grow from more than two years ago. finally started a couple new shoeboxes recently just because i miss seeing the little fuckers growing and doing their thing.

I used to do them more often than I do now, but after my last trip of 2g of my old APEs i actually swore off mushrooms for LIFE (for a few months) afterward :lol:
