Yeah, mine is rye. I have to drive a ways but it's local, grown without chemicals, and cheap.

Walk into an apartment with a bag of corn and people think you're making hooch.

Prepping wheat gives me the full body rash... Keep that shit far away from me please.

Hello fellow shroomies, would love a bit of advice on my grow. First time growing out PE. 1:4 mix in an EZ dial with a pseudo-casing layer of just coir. Clearly, this clone is mutated as hell. There are a couple of normal pins but the entire tub is almost entirely bulbous, girthy blobs. Not gonna lie, I kind of love them haha

My question is this... on Thursday morning I'm leaving town for 12 days. So I can either harvest them in 48 hours and resoak the tub for the second flush, or let them ride for the next two weeks and see how grotesque they get! I can tell they are immature, as they aren't marshmallow soft yet. But if I let em go, what's the worst that could happen? Just a rotten mess? They don't drop spores, right? Anyone else ever experience something similar with PE?

If those are penis envy.
What is that stuff on them.
Is that dusty contamination? Because it looks like it.
It does not look like bruising to me

Yes it is PE. It does seem to be bruising because they were more tan the other day

Apologies for the purple hue. That's from the grow light

There should be no question that it is blue. Royal dark blue.

That looks like Dusty Green powder to me.

I will check them closer when I get home. If it does turn out to a powdery coating, what would that indicate? Some sort of fungal contam?

It would be a voracious contamination trying to eat your grow.

I’m still practicing my contamination identification. That doesn’t look green enough to be trichodermia.
Some sort of sporophores perhaps.

Looks like bruising due to conditions being dry AF. Bunch of chapped blobs.

Bruising example.
Like I said, I can’t really tell. It looks dusty and off to me. It could just be very bad bruising. Plus the weird lighting.

Looking into HG no pour tek. The item listed in the tek is unavailable, but these appear to be the same product, but a bit smaller. Description lists them as 2.16×.7 instead of the 2.63x1 listed in the tek. Has anyone used these and found any major issue with the smaller size? I wouldn't expect a problem, but wanted to ask before I order a good handful of them.

if fruiting a clone, how different are spore prints from one fruit to the next in terms of stabilization?

if you fruit a clone and take a tissue sample from any of those fruits it is all the same as any other fruit from that spawn? and/or the same as a transfer.

selecting one fruit to clone from each ms grow, then taking prints from every fruit of the clone grow, mixing them in one solution, growing it out and selecting a clone...

open air non sterile grain inoculation/colonization for outdoor?

I've seen contam spawn and jars grow outside with no worry about contam, wondering if i can take a bucket of grain, soak it outside , introduce some spores, myc or LC/LI and cover it with a lid or towel and let it colonize skipping all pc or pasteurizing etc?

Bump

Prints from a clone are still very random but over generations start to stabilize traits, so u clone a PE mushroom that grew out white and fruit it , take spores and still get 99 percent of the new grow isn't white , the key here is persistence so take more spores even from the non white mushrooms and your next gen could produce 50/50 results , clone your white mushrooms and repeat , essentially what you're doing is inbreeding.
As for your outdoor question yes just spread the spawn any nilly Willy way you want

I can't speak from experience on 2.16x.7 but 2.6x1 can feel cramped. These are what I'm using. A few other users are also using the same brand.

to specify, would crossing spores from two different fruits of the same clone grown out ( or say 10 prints from the same clone grow) speed up the stabilization process?

to clarify the second question, i know going to spawn can be done without sterile procedure, can inoculation be done this way? such as putting spores on grain in a bucket with open air and no sterilization or pasteurization?

thank you for your help

If you try to inoculate something in open air. It’s getting inoculated by everything else in that open air also.
