The consensus from TCs has generally been to dry them hot and fast to lock in potency

:whathesaid:  I almost always tick that last box "show 1 resut per thread"

The degradation of the active alkaloids is from oxidation in aqueous solution....or similarly. So removing water quickly, helps limit the negative effects of oxygen. Though I suppose heat will damage it not just oxidize it (thermal degradation.) it's pretty safe within the limits of retail dehydrators

I use a quite small dehydrator.
I intend to get a nice freeze dryer at some point but for now I don’t see an issue just throwing it into the dehydrator for about 12 hours.

Mine doesn’t go up that high, but everything comes out cracker dry.

Hells yeah I'll get a normal food dehydrator then and I can make my apple chips ^^ it does say you can set it to 95-104 degrees.

I dry at 160 Fahrenheit for 24 hours minimum. Give this a read. Notice the responses from the TC’s Cracker dry comparison

Edit: fixed a word

Ksss. Harvest the ones that are joined together? The one with the curled cap looks ready from what i can tell. Anyone with Ksss experience want to provide their opinion? Would the one that hasnt curled yet be a decent candidate for a spore print, or are these more of a swab the gills situation?

I dry 165°F for 24 hours. Always cracker dry. Everyone I have shared my grows with trip their balls off for 4 to 5 hours with only 2 grams of dried B+. I have yet to try my PE grows but they are dried the same way.

Quick question, how long after you spawn to bulk (B+ or Golden Teacher or Burma strains) should I start seeing pins and fruiting starts (the absolute latest on average it would be) ? Just trying to figure out when you should think a tub had stalled before taking any drastic action.

I was planning to fill the syringe most of the way with LC and then have a small jar of sterile water with a silicone port, then draw up the water. The best I've got right now is to treat the silicone as a one time use and then remove it and reapply. There's probably a better way - honestly, Ive only got 3 grows separating me from being a total noob, and I've never made LC, so this idea is a work in progress for sure.

the silicone port will complicate things. just remove lid, gently draw water in.

there is no hard and fast answer. every culture is different. ape and pe vars can take longer, etc. 21 days or sooner is a good benchmark, assuming your spawn was clean and coir properly hydrated.

I've read enough research around here to know that, it's why I said 'on average what's the absolute latest I should start seeing fruits', because I wanted to know the absolute luckiest maximum chance I had to produce fruits before "giving up" on a tub. I've read cases where people brought tubs back to fruit after months stalled (resurrection Tek? lol), but I know that's nowhere near typical.

Thank you for the information sounds like the answer is if I still don't have pin sets by day 21 of spawning to bulk I can safely dispose of it outside without that nagging feeling that if I just waited a little longer id produce something. 🤗

Hi guys! New here, just need a bit of help. Do both of these plates appear to be good to send to grain? One may look a little more white fuzz than the other so I’m a bit confused.

Awe, crap. I was worried about that one plate? Maybe I’ll try to do a transfer. Do you wait unit the myc gets to the edge of the plate or send it to grain beforehand?

None seem ready to send to grain.
1st plate continue to transfer from 4ish to 6 o'clock
2nd plate the disorganised growth is coherent with mold

You send to grain when you have a concentric circle culture

I never let myc touch the walls, if I plan to send that plate, some nasties might live there

just keep it around until it molds out. that way you know. do you have pics? there might be some sort of other problem.

Sure. Although I don't think it's really stalled yet as we are only starting day nine I'm probably being paranoid.

This is day three approx.

This is how it looked by day seven:

I'm on mid day nine now and not much change at all from early day seven.

And I'll take another pic of the tub momentarily, but I have seen very little change since this early day seven vs mid day nine. I can notice little difference at a casual glance without opening my lid fifty billion times and being really anal retentive.

I definitely thought I'd be seeing lots of primordia and pins at this point at least...

I guess the anxiety is only due to how fast it took to get to this stage only to not see much last few days. The four corners of the cake are 'pulling away' from the sides of the monotub, but there are still streaks of water coming down all four sides so FAE and humidity doesn't seem too off. Droplets visible on top, CVG mix was moistened to field capacity prior to mixing with spawn.  Evaporation is what encourages pinsets and water is definitely evaporating, but... I dunno. Probably first time jitters.

edit:

Forgot to say I suspect my substrate might be too small for this fruiting stage , which is stalling the grow. This was my first tub and so I didn't do an adequate job measuring three or four inches of substrate/spawn mix and it looks more like two and a quarter inches of substrate for five half pint jars and one small bag of spawn.

Re: Ask Quick Questions, Get Quick Answers [Re: fiddle_head]

Ill explain what led me to the idea in the first place, so you have an idea of the issues I'm trying to work around.

1. Im clumsy with small tools and fine movements and still very unsure of myself during SAB work.

2. I dont feel confident in my ability to completely open a jar and draw from it with a syringe. I dont think I could extract the plunger on a syringe without both hands, and there's no way for me to keep from hovering over the open jar with my hands, in that scenario.

3. I want to use a syringe for innoculating grain instead of pouring it right off the LC jar/bottle bc I have zero faith in my ability to keep the pour to anywhere in the ballpark of 1cc per jar. I will turn my spawn jars into soup.

4. The single use nature of LC is kind of a bummer. If I could create the LC inside the syringe, I could do small batches of grain and still have the leftovers for the next batch. I'm not at a point yet where I'm innoculating a ton of grain all at once, so if I could make one or two syringes in one shot and have the ability to get many uses out of it,  I would really only need to make LC once in a blue moon.

So yes, the way I want to do it myself might differ from what someone with a steadier hand and more experience might do, but right now, I just want to find out if it will work out well, as a concept. I'll gladly do extra work to ensure the results are accurate and not due to my rookie ass botching the whole thing. I just want to find out if it will work as intended. Id love to be able to contribute something useful to the community instead of feeling like I'm just riding coattails and asking to have my questions answered, ya know? I'd love to figure out it works and then have someone more skillful fine tune the whole thing and do a write up on it, but I'm not that guy...yet.

Im far from a TC, but I think you're working yourself into a frenzy here, amigo. Your day 7 pic looks to me like it's fully colonized or real close, if not. There's going to be a bit of lag time between when you think its fully colonized and when you start seeing signs of pinning. You're going to be waiting on your tub whether you're climbing the walls in anticipation, or chillin out and letting it run its course. In the immortal words of my former cellmate- just relax and let it happen.

Is this your first or only tub? I have a hell of a time being patient when I'm waiting on one grow to get me going. My first shoebox since coming back to this is just now pinning, and brother, I totally get it. I've been keeping myself busy with agar work and Jerry Springer reruns. I think you're in good shape though man.

If you see this after five days, are you going to assume these are clean LC syringes or wait longer?
