Hello everyone! I’m a beginner - had beginners luck last summer with golden teachers, then had a contam tub, now I am growing GT again - 1) I haven’t had many shrooms (around 15) in first flush in storage tub. There are many pins and small mushrooms but idk if they look like they are growing well, I have picked the ripe fruits - the small ones left what should I do???! And why are some fruits floppy?

I don’t even feel like you need to boil WBS.
I just soaked it for 24 hours and rinsed out the water.

I hate stuff like that where I have to plan it 24 hours in advance. Soaking grain for hours makes me angry. I'd rather get it boiled, dried, and sterilized in an afternoon.

Just fill up your pot with some WBS rinse it out into the waters clear set it on the stove. Don’t cook it. Leave it there for a day. Come back, rinse it out until the water is clear. Done
You can put them in your jars and start pressure cooking.

Once it looks to be myc on an agar plate how soon do you transfer it to new agar? How do I know if they have β€œbred” yet and are not mono? LC about 7 days ago.

I soak my wbs overnight or for up to 24 hours, strain it, put it back in a big stock pot, boil water in another pot, pour it in the pot with the wbs and let it sit for no more than 30 minutes, pour all that into the strainer, then pour that onto pans lined with paper shopping bags or newspaper about 1/2 inch thick.  Then I point a box fan at it and periodically turn the grain until the outside is dry.  Only then do I jar and PC at 15 psi for 2 hours.

I like to be DAMN SURE my grain isn’t the problem.

My 2 cents for the WBS convo:
I don't soak anymore, the reason is: after the 12th hour foam appears at the surface: meaning the fermentation process started, I don't like the perfume in the house and don't fancy the idea of feeding the precious sugars to yeast and bacteria and not my future fruits.
I do a kind of flash-prep x3: the dry WBS goes to a mesh bag. I blast it with boil water from the kettle and let it sit for 15min; repeat 3 times: hang the bag, flush the water and blast with new boiling kettle water and sit for another 15min - so I'm also doing a hot rinse. After these 45min and 3 blasts/rinses, I hang the steaming bag for 30ish minutes draining and I load the jars wet. The remaining water is reabsorbed during the PC cycle.

Once you've got an eye for the proper hydration, loading wet is a life saver.

Though, I don't think it should really be recommended for "Less-experienced".

So it is acceptable to leave the millet in when doing wbs?
