I live in the swamp hah, gotta deal with excess humidity with anything I try to grow!

I think the syringe I bought of natalensis was contaminated, I checked my muda jars that I used the same syringe on and they’re looking spikier than the others.

Edit: I gotta get over the fear of agar :cryariver:

In my experience Natalensis mycelium is very aggressive, so you could be able to get some growth away from contamination on agar without much trouble.

No reason to be afraid, agar work is fun and increases your odds of success.

For me it grows more rhizo with a cloudlike cover on top so the jar growth doesn't necessarily look bad yet, but time will tell.

Id pick out corn by hand. Mine has some nuts all of a sudden. I just put it in a bowl and turn it by hand. I pick out the nuts as I see them. Eventually there will be none.

Hey guys a couple questions for an agar noob...

1) I have a plate id like to do a transfer with, wrapped in parafilm... Do I unwrap it inside of the SAB or prior to putting in? Unwrap then rubbing alcohol it in the SAB prior to transfers?

no. wipe your objects beforehand with a dish soap/bleach solution (only a few drops opf each will do.)
Then place them in the sab. you will unwrap them and remove lids only when you are ready to make the actual transfer and inoculate your media.

I was wondering if these are just garbage or could still be used? I planned on trying a g2g transfer and just never got around to it. Same with the agar. I'd say they're both at least 1.5-2 months old.

Should I just start over?

You can pluck that agar pin with flamed tweezers to get a clone culture. Or just put the whole thing to grain.

Maybe pluck the big fruits in the jar and spawn it to a shoebox or Ziploc bag with coir? Or just case with coir and get some more fruits from the jar itself. Might be safe for g2g but I only like to do that with really pristine spawn, and that's hard to judge when it's overgrown.

Hello friends, things got weird today and I have 3 quick questions if I may please suckle some wisdom :bow2:

1. Do you reckon these plates are contamed or did the myc develop a taste for the color blue? Somewhere, someone said that's a thing but I don't know. They are Bronze Reishi and B+. They're the only blue plates I have that are developed this much and it's my first batch of plates ever so I'm unsure.



2. My Golden Teachers had a nice average looking first flush, and have produced these wavy boys for a second flush. They're neat but the holes on all the caps is what threw me off. Even the little chodes have a urethra. Are they still okay lol?



3. What is this, a flush for ants? 😭 These are supposed to be Nezuko cubes and I've never been to Thailand myself, but I feel like this is less than ideal. This tub has 2qt spawn and 4qt CV in it, colonized pretty slowly (since 6/16) but looked okay (to me, the noob). It finally pinned a couple days ago and here we are. This is my second time trying to fruit these and the first try developed a lot of overlay and eventually grew one tiny fruit just like this (the right one in my signature). Is this indicative of anything?

Bought some pre poured plates online, it seems there is a touch of condensation. Should I just let them rest a few days? It’s been warm  where I live.

Sorry, should have added more context. I have been setting up a tent for gourmets but they're not ready yet, so these tubs fruited in the tent, as you see them. It's 90-95% humidity and 68-70F in the tent. I was curious to see how they'd do compared to my first time, which was typical shoeboxes in the closet with loose lids.

That plate looks more suspicious IRL too. The discoloration developed on both plates sometime in the past week, but both plates have grown a lot in that time too. Maybe I should try taking a transfer away from the suspicious part?

I need help. I'm trying to find condiment cups with pp5 lids. I have scoured the internet and have come up with diddly. I know that you can use other containers but I really want to do no poor K-Cups. Does anyone have a decent source? The only ones I can find have shitty multiple lids.

1, 2 and 5 are all ok to take from. take from the healthiest looking most ropey looking leading edge fast growth. only the one small edge with pic 5. id go for 1 or 2 first and then try one last transfer from that piece on 5.

additonally, i have tried to fruit tubs in a tent with an auxilliary humdifcation and exhaust system. since monotubs are set and forget, whether they are unmodded bods or holed pastys, you dont want a secondary humidity source other than the RH generated inside the tub by field capacity of your coir, especially unmodded.
