Took a transfer from this. It turned teal later. Think it will be okay? Or is that enmeshed mold?

Hi everyone, busy with my first active grow right now and it has definitely ended up being a much longer growth timeline than I expected, probably because of the lower temps in my area at the moment. Im growing natalensis and the nat thread said it should be about 4 weeks from spawn to first flush, I inoculated the bag of spawn in this shoebox in early May over 2 months ago now. I finally started getting pins 8 or 9 days ago, they have been very sporadic and I have a mix of nearly mature fruits, primordia, and fresh pins that have shown up over the last day. My questions are
1, how far off do you think the bigger fruits are? I have a hike with a couple of friends on Thursday and was hoping I'd have a few by then.
2, Are all of those pins and primordia just late joiners to the first flush, or are they the start of the second flush waiting for me to dunk it? Was going to use that surface punishment tek after my first flush to try get a better second one, but I dont think I'd want to do that if the surface had all that primordia and the pins. Thanks for any help.

So I'm guessing grey isn't what we're looking for when it comes to semperviva as well? I did 7 jars and I think 4 are no good lol. What do my semperviva people think?

Looks good.

I just feel like the color isn't really coming through in the photo, but I gave it a shake anyways to see what would happen. Does the semp myc look different than cubes?

Hmmm idk, it just seems too grey to me. I'm gonna give them all a shake and see how they look in a few days or so

If your worried about it being a gray mold, don’t shake it and see if it outruns what you think is semp mycelium. Mold grows much faster

I do rubber side down and just use the threading on the rim to pry it off by bending the rim ever so slightly.

Not in response to anyone in particular. Just my preference I felt compelled to share. Carry on.

Slight can be off by a slight bit and be ruined.

Could you show us a picture picture as an example of how slight?

Pretty sure he means you squeeze the rim between your fingers so it's slightly elliptical instead of round, before you lift so you trap the lid. Not an actual permanent bend.

I prefer rubber up with full size sfd underneath. Push down on lid with right pointer finger while loosening band with left hand. Bands all come off and set down behind jars, then each lid lifted momentarily for each transfer

Harvest when done maturing then discard. Some people remove tubs like this while they finish to another room, I do not

I feel like it spread pretty quickly. I shook the ones I thought were good and only one of the ones I thought was bad. We'll see what happens

:whathesaid:

And you can position it so the threading on the rim catches the edge of a stuck down lid like a bottle opener.

Is there a way to slow down mushroom growth in a monotub? Will giving it less FAE slow it down?

Thanks. Harvested a tub today and didn't know it'd be so much mushrooms lol. Got a couple more tubs that will be ready tomorrow or maybe tonight but my dehydrator is too small to fit all the mushrooms.

If I do have to harvest them before the batch in the dehydrator isn't dry yet, what can I do with the harvested wet mushrooms before then?

You can refrigerate them for a few days. Put them in a paper bag or a food container with a gap in the lid and a paper towel to absorb the moisture they'll release.

I did everything in a SAB, jars had the usual two holes, rtv silicone and micropore tape. The inside of the SAB was sprayed with iso alcohol beforehand and everything was wiped with alcohol when they were placed inside. Used nitrile gloves, etc.
So there was very little chance for contamination but of course it's not zero.
