Hardly anybody uses a 1:6 ratio yet alone 1:12 ratio ESPECIALLY with the "1" only being 0.5qrt . Keep your parts:parts  equal (except we all know that 1MYCO qrt of spawn is actually less than 1 qrt of substrate)

I tent un modified media bottles to keep the place where my fingers are going to touch as clean as possible, right untill they go in to sab.

I also tent modified jars but remove the foil as soon as they are removed from PC, so  the filter doesn't retain moisture.

Is the psilocybin that bruises blue in a mushroom wasted?  Like does it bruise blue because it oxidizes and is therefore useless?  Does a mushroom with excessive bruising have a bunch of wasted actives?

I have these 2 jars that stalled. I inoculated them with agar more than 3 months ago. They were not stored in good conditions whatsoever. Idk how tf the mycelium even grew that much and idk how they didn't end up looking nasty. For example, the house I was storing this at was up to 35 degrees celcius and very dirty. And one time I came back and there were 2 dead rats in the room stinking like crazy not knowing how long they have been there for. I had the jars in a tub with a blanket over it to make sure no contaminants get inside. My friend who is a successful cultivator said it'll be good to spawn these. He said just take out the top part which aren't colonized. Just wanted to know other people's opinions.

Do these look contaminated? Should I spawn these into a monotub? They do not smell bad whatsoever.

The jar to the right is more dried up and the uncolonized sorghum on top moves around. The jar to the left though doesn't do that even even I flip the jar upside down. No sorghum falls unlike the other jar.

Should I spawn or throw?

I was told to just take the top grains out and it'll be good to spawn. What's your opinion? Just throw it out?

It wouldn't hurt to try , you'll probably outrun any contams but go with a different lid set up

I only ever did set and forget monotubs. Lids closed all the way with 6 holes covered in micropore. These grains look really dry so maybe I'll need less FAE?

Yeah upside down lids aren't great, flip them n use a filter

I bought PE & APE LC from online - my PE's seem to be pretty consistently a good size, but the APE's are quite a bit smaller.

I'm guessing that it's the particular genetics that I have, not a consistent theme of APEs overall. I harvested the APEs right around the time of the picture because the veil had been dropping - did I just harvest them too soon or do I have shrimpy genetics?

If shrimpy, where are some places I could find a more robust APE LC?

So your PE are more precisely melmacs - it's a PE isolation that behaves in the surface and dosen't blob.
The veil criteria to harvest only applies to varieties that drop spores; If you're growing albinos, they won't drop, so they can go on longer... harvest when the gills are turning blue or the fruit squishes like a marshmallow .
Why blame the LC? There are a number of variables that could contribute for small fruits... could be environmental... from here, that tub seems quite dry

Those PE are dropping spores as well, that's a cross.

Is it not PE6?

Q: I understand that choosing what to clone is a matter of preference. Why would it be beneficial to clone a large mushroom as opposed to a smaller one that clusters?

Q2: Looking at cube aborts, pan cyans, libs and subtrops it seems to me that perhaps smaller mushrooms are generally more potent. Is that true?

An abort may have a negligible amount more on a weight per weight basis, but  a larger mature fruit will still have more total actives.

Larger fruits in a cluster means that it was faster out of the gate. And More likely to have quicker fruits for a full canopy. And in return quicker turn around

Hello. First time grower here. Would like a quick check on this grow. I assume this is ready to initiate pinning,right? Has this nice earthy scent :grin:






On another note,i had another batch that got contaminated now a second time in the same container with liner in it.
So the other container had the liner in the container while on this one in the pictures has the liner outside on the box itself. That's the only difference.
The mycelium did not grow into the coco coir for some reason and eventually a different mold grew that releases a weird fermenting scent.
Any idea what might cause such a thing to occur? The spawn was really great(had 4 jars total,used 2-2 for each batch) with abundant growth but afterward it just stalled in the bulk substrate.

Hey everyone! I know the general consensus is to not use pre-made bags, but this particular brand I've had success with. I'm 2 for 2 so far. This is my third, and I figure if it keeps working, why try something else for the time being. However, this bag, I've noticed something that I didn't on the other 2. I inject a week ago, and lifted it up today to check around the bag and saw on the bottom what you can see in the picture. To be fair, I've never checked the bottoms on the 2 successful growths, so I'm not sure if this is normal. I just wanted to see if anyone had some insights on whether this looks bad, normal, or just ride it out. Any insight would be great! Thank you all.

Bulk contamination is almost always due to bad spawn. How did you make the spawn? Do you have pictures of the jars or the inoculant used on them?

I kept some prepared sterilized grains in a quart jar with an unmodified, flipped, tightened two-piece lid in a box for a year.

It looks fine. Can I still use it? It's sealed so it should still be sterile and moist, right?
