Ok here’s a fun one! I know this is probably due to high humidity, but there is a beautiful layer of snowy mycelium growing on all my stems.

For real thought this was a bunch of tiny potatoes for a minute

Its an aquarium with some air pucks underneath. I recently upped the air output. Lower airflow resulted in this

You can edit your posts rather than posting a stream of them.

Fuzzy feet are usually attributed to poor fresh air exchange. There's probably also a genetic component, but those do run quite high up the stipe.

Increasing FAE would probably help. But you can do this using much lower tech methods (search for the "water tub" tek). You just need a water reservoir (can literally just be an inch or two of water in the tub) and a way for air to be exchanged (holes in the tub and/or a flipped or gapped lid) plus maybe a fan or cracked window in the room. No need for an aquarium or air pumps for cubensis.

Hi all,

First post and first time growing using the BRF TEK. I injected the spores approx 3 weeks ago, and so far all looks okay. The jars aren't fully colonised yet, but perhaps 80%. In a couple of the jars however some mushrooms have started to grow.

Any advice as to what I should do here? Ignore them and wait until the jar is fully colonised? Birth the cake slightly early?

Thanks!

I would clone those on agar, as they seem to be strong ones.

go to bulk with the rest of the jar.

cap is turning to a weird color, ithe fruit got too heavy and its base got cut off. could this be mold or something? how to proceed?

Do you mean the purple? That's just spores, totally fine

Happy Friday to all :beergirl:

Is it a bad idea to keep transferring B+? First time working with it & I'm on T2/T3, they look very uniform but more wispy & less robust than previous plates.

I thought I read somewhere on here a while back that transferring from B+ too much could lead to undesirable traits due to it being an old mutant strain.

Probably overthinking but curious.

So I just let them be for now? The veils have broken in a bunch of them but they are kind of smallish

when the veil is broken, they're mature and can be picked. from now on they only grow and drop spores. you can pick those who have broken and let the other ones run

You can go ahead and pick the ones that are done, it won't hurt anything. If they're ready, they're ready.

If they're mature and dropping spores they have stopped growing.  Harvest them and work on getting better genetics through cloning/agar for future projects.

cool cool, thank you, this was my first time managing to get them fruiting.

The spore syringes are kind of old (been sitting for ~1 year in the fridge).

How heavy do you load your bags, specifically the 4t bags, I read a tek (and the math on here) that says two parts millet one part water, and the 4t bags were allegedly 1000g millet and 500g H2O.

Well that seems to be too much, can't shake the bag, and gotta massage the colonized grains around...

This round I did 650g millet and 325 water, which seems fine, but what do y'all do?

I know different grains use different amounts to hydrate, just wondering how much hydrated grains you use (this is 2# 2.5 oz)

Looks nice for sure, just less robust. Stupid question though I'm more aware of that now. Will leave it there for the craic :stoned:

What is the recommended cycle time to sterilize larger bags of grain in a PC? Typically 3-5 lb bags.  I see some people say 2 hours, some say 3 and some say 3.5.  if running 3.5 how do you not run out of water?

How long can a fully colonized jar of spawn be allowed to sit and wait before going to bulk?
