x7x+ growing like a boss - mounding up like it's getting ready to grow plins less than 2 weeks from putting to agar. What?!?!?! lol

If the inoculation plate doesn't look that clean straight from the LC, I wouldn't run it personally. I would rather just run that plate with multiple small wedges

It was clean to my newbie eye, has good growth from all the inoc points and havenโ€™t seen any visible contam in the T0 or T1. T1 just didnโ€™t have very uniform growth at all.

blueing only started after the plate fully colonized, not sure why, didnโ€™t have any odd colors or growth through the whole plate.

What would be the reason for (most of) these plates to have these 'cuts' in the mycelium. Is this any reason for concern or would all of these be considered 'healthy' enough to send to grain? All plates are first transfers from spore swab (except for one of these plates which actually has had no transfers at all).

I recommend newbies don't make liquid culture to inoculate jars. It's tricky even with experience, and a great way to grow a lot of contam fast.

I'd get the basics down just cleaning up on agar first, grow some solid clean shoeboxes from agar first.

There's a good link in my sig line "New? start here" that recommends that and a lot more. Might save you some headaches. Would have saved me a 9 months to a year if I'd had it when I started.

Or are you saying you bought a syringe of something called liquid culture, and put it on a plate? If so, fine, but I'd do another transfer or two.

If so was it thick with fibrous looking mycelium in it, or thin like water? Do you have a photo of it?

Sometimes spore syringes are sold as "liquid culture." Actual liquid culture of psilocybe mushrooms is illegal to sell since it contains measurable (barely) psilocybin and psilocin, so a lot of what's sold online as liquid culture is just a spore syringe.

Sometimes they add activated charcoal to spore syringes to make it look like it has a lot of spores.

A good spore syringe doesn't have to look thick and can look exactly like water.

Yeah i totally understand what youโ€™re saying, I have opted to stay away from making my own LC. Yeah it was an LC I received from Shroomery Vendor, I know they said spores on their website but it came as LC, was myc strands in water (or some) solution. I am currently doing all my inoculations using clean agar only.

Just wasnโ€™t sure if this plate was ready to go or not because it has some different looking growth in it.

T2^ Pretty uniform and no strange colors or anything, just the pattern and different tomentose/rhizo growth had we questioning.


**Edit** I now see the confusion, I wasnโ€™t questioning if the LC was good to run, but if the agar plate was ready to send to grains. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Thatโ€™s a nice looking plate. I would transfer a few selecting to a new plate then send it to grain.
