You're right, they will stick Trump with something, undoubtedly.

You're also correct about which case this is. It's the one with the smokin hot female lawyer.

As the judge said, he would have vetoed the request for a jury, but I suppose Trump could have appealed it. I don't know that he would have gotten anywhere with that appeal.

By the way, the judge in this case is fucking ridiculous too. I saw something about him randomly posting half nude photos of himself, unsolicited, on a highschool reunion page or something like that. He was quoted as saying something to the effect of, "I'm not always sure if I'm enforcing the law, or making the law".

From what I understand, judges in New York are supposed to be removed when they turn 70, and he is 75...

When Trump was elected president, the DA made a tweet that said, "Too male and too pale"...

I'm confused as to why so many old school leftists are so adamant about letting a fat cat corrupt billionaire get away with being a ripoff artist. People get in trouble for defrauding banks all the time why should he get away with it?

I generally wouldn't care. The fact of the matter is, Donald Trump is considered a "grass-roots" candidate. I don't want other grass roots candidates to be afraid of running for president, if a pattern of weaponizing the justice system against opponents of the political class emerges.

We've seen the judicial system weaponized against whistleblowers, and journalists, like Julian Assange, and I truly believe it prevents others from exposing things that they otherwise would.

I think the most charitable explanation (one that I do not hold, by the way) is that going after trump produces a chilling effect for anyone else who dares to step outside the bounds of allowed discourse.

“They did it to Bernie, now they’re doing it to trump.”

And of course liberals will use their power to protect their power, so would trump, I’m not sure why this is so shocking to some. It’s like when liberals do the “if republicans are pro life why do they hate social programs?” Because they’re lying bro. If you’re wondering how democrats can be pro democracy while rigging elections against the left wing of the party, then you first need to accept that they’re not pro democracy.

I think it’s one of the strongest parts of the case because they have evidence that trump personally pushed this scheme that involved unambiguously illegal activity - the forgery of official documents.

See... I don't understand why they have to do the sort of dirty shit they are doing in New York against Trump, when they have something like this. It unnecessarily paints a very bad picture.

Of trump?

They're doing it because there's enough evidence to make a case, because it is allegedly what he did.

The dirty shit is the fake electors scandal, not the investigation of it.

You keep misunderstanding my posts. I said the fake electors scandal does have merit. The cases in New York where they A. Changed the law in order to go after Trump, or B. Filed a civil suit on behalf of a bank that had no qualms with Trump in the first place... Are dirty and politically motivated. In other words, the only reason that these cases have been brought against Trump, is because he's running for president.

You're upset with dirty politics that were effective you say? Join the club.

At least you put grass roots in quotations, because he's not a populist. He doesn't legislate the claims he makes when campaigning. Tax cuts for the wealthy isn't populist.

Quote:
Ideological conservatism vs. Faux populism in Donald Trump’s inaugural address

Probably the strongest pillar in the conservatism ideology is an assumed antagonism between the people and the government that goes back to Thomas Jefferson. Donald Trump’s Inaugural Address does not connect him to the network of conservative ideological argument. Trump’s apparent disinterest in a genuine populism would become more evident in the coming weeks as the president announced initiatives that would harm the very elements of the population that he regarded as “the people” responsible for his victory. Championing the people in a struggle against a real or imagined elite is the chief characteristic of populism, going back at least to the 1880s in the United States. Left-wing populists see the enemy as an economic elite and view the concentration of wealth as inimical to democracy; right-wing populists see the enemy as a political elite that undermines the will of the people.

Trump undermines the will of the people when he legislates against their interests, like he did with his tremendous tax cuts for the wealthy.

Too butthurt cause Bernie lost the dnc so now you opt out and we all suffer.

Yet you complain.
