Fair enough dude, you do what works for you.

But, if you can't see the advantage of a bigger surface, then you're just not working on a scale that requires it. Nothing wrong with that.

That's why I mentioned that they are only really suitable if you are working on a small scale. Ones view of "small" might vary.

well i agree, i am certainly on a tiny scale. but even if you were to go bigger, wouldnt you naturally prefer G2G??

G2G or lc is most favorable but I also run multiple deli cups for easy tiger drops and for short term masters.

G2G all day man, but only in proven cultures. There's little point in expanding a culture you haven't tested yet.

Making hundreds of transfers every single week in those size no pours would just be a PITA for me. I work excessively, I like pheno / culture hunting.

I confess that I throw away quite a bit of polystyrene but pheno hunting and culture work is my favorite part of this hobby.  I don't really see another way to make hundreds of plates in one sitting.

It's apples and oranges to me. The scale of what I want in agar-land isn't directly connected to the scale of my overall grow.

I want a little room on my plates to watch the myc spread out, pull from different sectors, be able to take multiple wedges that are far from each other in case one side is funky, let a forest of plate-pins grow, allow a little leeway for my clumsy scalpel work, etc.

I then eventually do g2g from masters, and I could easily take a quart and expand it out to 10 or 20 jars. But I don't. I have too many cultures going from all those various agar wedge lines and whatnot. So I do it like sourdough starter. Use a jar to inoculate one or two jars for the next generation, then go on to spawn the rest of it.

i totally get it. for me this is just a hobby, which doesn't mean that i am not aiming for excellency. i am more like going for a lucky catch and sticking with it if thata makes sense. i look at plates with a strong loupe before deciding where to transfer from.
as i said, it works for me

Seems like 99% of people in shroomery mushcult use the Bucket Tek. I do not and for saying this they call me arrogant cause i dont have pictures of my own mushrooms here. The mycoforum of my country just got their proof of shroomerys hostility. I do like it here though becaus of the agar. The archives are valuable.

They don't even need to have cultures in them. Just a clean pour will do

What clean plates are you referring to?
I just posted better pics of the plates and also apic of the agar bottle to give some reference. There is a lot of clutter in the newly PCd agar but im not gona repeat my self here. If you read the post you will see how and why and when.

Thugnar

The bottom line dude is that you've never produced a clean culture in your life.  You don't know what you're doing. You are an absolute noob. Verified.

For this reason, you need to quit giving anyone advice.  Ever. Under any circumstance. You're the one that should be asking for advice.

You need to quit condescending people and backpeddaling. You need to quit slithering around making claims you cant back up.

Take accountability.  You are the worst rated member I have ever seen in like 15 years of experience with this place.  own it.  We're happy to help you but quit sniveling around like we're mean to you for no reason. Do you see me being mean to any other noob for no reason? I happily help them to the best of my abilities every day and yet, still consider myself a noob because this hobby is    h u m b l i n g.

I think he's ignored me so someone please quote me.

Thugnar, we will all help you without any kind of judgment but we do require that you come clean and admit you have no clue and have just chosen to antagonize the member base due to a lack of proper communication skills.

No hard feelings, we can help you if you want the help.

Hey, if it works, cool. Maybe you just have better coordination and eyesight than I do lol

Damn, that loupe idea is brilliant. I have a couple of those floating around for botany and whatnot, and that somehow never occurred to me.
