Hi there,

Quick Questions: Is this colony normal or it it mold?

It has been about 10 days since I mixed the fruiting block with the substrate and moved it to the tabs, but it seems to be slow to colonize.


The pic is blurry and hard to make out, but there are white fluff in some places
and the black areas are substrate.

Sorry I can't tell. Wait for an opinion from someone more experienced. In the mean time watch it. If it is mold in the beginning stages it'll become more obvious as it matures and starts sporulating more.

I don’t see green or blue. Wipe it with a qtip and if blue or green comes off then it’s trich otherwise looks okay for me 🤷♂️

In refrigeration, vac seal or no vac seal?

In Amsterdam they come vacuum sealed fresh, but obviously you wouldn't vac seal fresh mush.

And looking for storage times

I could get some Milo (Sorghum) for $18.99 / 50LBS at the local feed store. I think I'd like to probably go with this for grain spawn. Seems like a major component in most WBS and much cheaper in my area. Just wondering how people's experience with it is? Perhaps timings for an instant pot? Still not too clear on 12PSI timings other than longer than 15PSI. Thanks mates.

I increased FAE and it didn't help so I guess that would be it from that growkit. The other kit after it grew mycelium on top never produced any fruits. Complete waste of money, the only thing I got from it is being turn off to the idea of growing them myself which I intended to do, just wanted to get some shrooms quickly beforehand and maybe some spore prints.
