I had similar thoughts to your alter ego Asante.
We know that some people infected with other variants were more or less asymptomatic only to come down with long covid symptoms weeks later. Who's to say that a mutation might not occur which doesn't reveal it's various internal organ damage until much further down the road. I guess we just have to wait and see what the long term repercussions will be.

On the other hand. I it certain that this particular coronavirus is a mutation of the SARS covid -it's been suggested that this mutation is further removed from the original strain than any other variant- rather than some other common cold causing coronavirus mutant that just happens to have evolved at the same time?

Yeah, its eerily probable. Covid has respiratory and hypoxia related symptoms, but also other ones unrelated to that, purely the interaction between the organisms.

J&J is the one that is based on outdated vaccine technology and doesn't work as well, as well as has the most side effects, so that's the one you're looking for.


J&J uses a viral vector. The virus infects a cell and inserts the spike protein DNA into the cell nucleus where it is translated into mRNA and then made into the spike protein. The mRNA vaccines don’t enter the cell nucleus and use mRNA directly to make the spike protein. For some unknown reason people are more scared of the mRNA vaccines because people are fucking morons

It is SARS-cov2. Otherwise the tests wouldn’t work. But it is very different from the original virus. It’s even more different from the delta variant, which suggests these two strains have been evolving independently from each other for at least a year. That is the process that leads to speciation in organisms that sexually reproduce. With viruses, you have pseudospecies, where two viruses become separate diseases when they have no cross immunity in their hosts. Different Coronaviruses can swap their genetic material if they infect a cell at the same time, in a process called recombination.

It’s possible that sars-cov2 recombined with a cold causing coronavirus at some point during the evolution of omicron. It shares some genes with a cold causing virus, but it’s also possible that that gene evolved by itself. We don’t really know if omicron evolved in a human or an animal. There’s some evidence that omicron evolved in rodents - possibility a human infected a rodent with one of the original strains of covid, then it circulated in rodents for more than a year before jumping back to people.

These viruses are pretty susceptible to copying errors, so anyone who is infected has thousands to millions of mutated viruses in their body at one time. Almost all of them go nowhere. One single virus has a very poor chance of ever being replicated, but occasionally one succeeds and its mutation gets amplified. Through repeated replication cycles that one mutation can take over. That’s why you want everyone vaccinated. The longer someone is infected the more replication cycles happen and the better the chance that a single mutation gets amplified into a variant.

Vaccinating the majority of the world population is in ALL our best interest.

No, you are reading it wrong.

The WHO says that a high grade of vaccination including booster is good, if the whole world got that, but since the world doesn't, giving the world their first two shots is more important than boostering the vaccinated.
