Everyone at work was coughing today. We have had several patients come up positive during pre operative testing after testing negative on admission. People who were not on any kind of special precautions who we may have been exposed to for days using only a regular mask. And We don't get tested anymore. Virtually nobody on the Ortho unit who tests positive for covid is symptomatic for it though

I just realized something sad: only the booster plus the two initial shots is effective against omicron (according to current data). Because there are 6 months between the initial series and the booster, it's now too late for people who haven't gotten the vaccine to avoid omicron. It would take them nearly 7 months from today to become properly protected.

Granted, the jury is still out, and we need a lot more research on omicron, but this idea just occurred to me.

My brother hasn't gotten either of his kids even the first shot, and one of them has a heart problem. I don't understand why his heart doctor hasn't insisted that he get it.
