Ok. So we're down to one MAB treatment that has efficacy against omicron. But I don't see anything that contradicts the evidence that omicron is less dangerous than previous variants.

A lot of the people getting infected are young and vaccinated so it’s hard to know how inherently dangerous omicron may be in more vulnerable populations

If it evolved in an immunocompromised person, that would be virus that didn’t kill its host for months despite the host having a terrible immune system.

It’s also possible omicron evolved in an animal population in a double spillover event, which wouldn’t put any particular pressure to be less severe.

I’ve seen reports that omicron has a gene that occurs in some of the cold coronavirus. If a cell is infected with two similar viruses, new viruses can assemble that contain a mix of rna sections from both viruses. It’s a bit worrisome that we have delta and omicron circulating together, and it is possible that a virus recombines that has delta genes that make it more severe and omicron genes that make it more contagious.
