Safe to assume this is directed at me. I "pop in" lots but hardly ever comment. I'm seriously confused where Cheif stands. He is an interesting subject. As far as challenging I'm all set. I've seen where it goes when logic defies the godly science. Hard pass

The boosters are preventing 3/4 of omicron infections, two doses or previous infection are barely working. If you don’t want to get sick, get a booster. I personally don’t care if I get omicron. It seems completely harmless to most people who are vaccinated or previously infected. Still, I wouldn’t want to be responsible for infecting someone so old their adaptive immune systems barely works anymore. Outbreaks of the common cold have been known to kill off 10-20% of nursing home populations, for example.

How long should you wait after the second to get a booster? I don't even knownifnyou can get boosters in Ontario, I never heard of anyone I know getting one

You should wait six months at least. It takes quite a long time for your B cells to diversify the antibodies they will make when you get the booster, so the longer you wait the more you get protected against variants. You could also just get omicron at this point :shrug:

Because all humans have some acquired and innate immunity to the flu, and everyone has acquired immunity to colds. Those are endemic diseases. We aren’t at the endemic stage yet. That requires the vast majority of people have a acquired immunity. We’re waiting for people like you to either get vaccinated or get covid.

Covid has killed more Americans than any flu in history, and we’re not done yet.

Dozens of states mandate flu vaccines for nursing home employees and most privately owned nursing homes require them.

It's been common public health policy and common sense for many years now. Covid is a whole lot deadlier and more contagious for everyone

Here’s a spreadsheet detailing all the influenza and covid mortality for the past 8 years. The worst week for the flu was 1600 deaths the third week of 2018. The worst week for covid was the first week of 2021 with 26,000 deaths.

This is pretty amazing. Omicron is spreading faster than any disease in recorded history. The UK health ministry says it has an r0 of 4-6 and doubling time of two days. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 1,000,000 cases a day by the end of the month.
