Keep getting Green contam in monotub

Hi,

It's the second time I restart from scratch because of contam( tryc) at the end stage.
I feel like ive been doing every step correctly, on my last run, I had only 1 on 15-20 jar contam after the agar transfer.

but hopefully one of you could tell me where I fuck up! :smile:

in brief, my step are :
soak 12h rye grain, cook 10-12min until grain are big.
let it dry 2-3h, remove all corn or cracked grain.

put in jar, pressure cook 90min on 15psi.
let cool over night, transfer agar in Airbox ( that I clean like crazy ).

Put 4l per 800g of coir, + 2jar of verm, after 1h mix and put in the oven,1h at 80celcius. ( im thinking of not cooking it in oven anymore)

use trash bag as liner in a 100liter tube( cleaned with lysol then iso alcool, mix the coir with 4jar of myc. leave 2 open hole with 3m pore film.

my room is at 22-24c.

forgot to add,
my jar smell fantastic before the transfer to the monotube.
So I feel it might not be the step related to the jar.

Hard to tell, maybe the jars are contaminated. Maybe your oven is blowing bits of food into the substrate. I'd rather use coir without heating it than putting it in the oven. You can also pressure cook your jars for 2 hours instead of 90 mins as an extra step :mushroom2:

ok Ill keep that In mind for the jar, tomorow ill test coir without the oven.

but wouldnt contam in jar give out a bit of smell ?

I dont think someone will be able to tell 100% of contaminated jars just by smelling them. Especially if that person hasn't done that for years already. if you get me :mushroom2:

Your not oven pasteurizing correctly i would suggest doing a better job at that or use a better method of pasteurization.

for now I put the oven on 100c, until my bag reach 70-75c, then keep it there for an hour.

Use a cooler for bucket tek. Work on your cultures on agar for cleaner results then go from there.

I would just ditch the oven methods and go with the bucket tek. It is what ALL of the bulk growers I know of are doing unless they have some big expensive commercial equipment. It is the easy, and effective way to go. 110%

Yeah, BODs cooler bucket tek is great, but if you don't have one, and don't want to spend the money on one you can use this tek that works like a charm using an extra bucket with the same end result. Lots of growers I respect have success with the standard damion 5050 bucket tek as is. Any of these will work great. :thumbup:

Few things.

1. Try spawning to 100% coir. Clean spawn will not contaminate before the first flush spawned to 100% coir that has been sterilized, period.

2. You're going overkill on your cleaning. I clean tubs with soap and water. Don't clean your tubs with things you wouldn't use to clean dishes, after all the intended results are edible fruits.

3. Liners are a waste of time and materials. They literally do nothing. Infact they hinder bottom watering making them counter productive.

Pics of your spawn jars and agar would be helpful. Vermiculite is sterile in the bag and neither it nor coir attract contaminants.

Has nothing to do with the coir tek. I've dumped cold water in coir, mixed it up, and directly added spawn...no contamination.

It's your spawn. 100% for sure. Work on getting clean myc on agar, then get it on grain. Grain prep is an important factor as well. Too wet and it'll go green at some point after spawning to bulk.

Both true. Clean spawn = Success beofre first flush vitually guaranteed. Longer normally if it was actually clean, and you didn't abuse the sub.

Either way is perfectly fine for coir. U can even add water directly from the sink to coir and it will grow fine.

The substrate should be fine.

I would look to the culture/spawn.
