Reusing contaminated jars
    #770585 - 07/23/02 12:19 PM (21 years, 7 months ago)

I was wondering if you could do this. Should you just toss 'em out
or could you just wash them before PC them next time?

Just dump the contamed substrate in a hole outside somewhere, and don't mess with your healthy cakes/casings immediately afterward. Certainly don't dump them out in your lab trash, or even indoors if you ask my cat.

Then wash 'em out really thoroughly or throw 'em in the dishwasher. If you're still unsure, splash some alcohol around in the jar after washing then wipe out with a clean paper towel. The PCing process should kill damn near anything in or on the jars anyway.

Since this question has been asked countless times, I thought maybe the "search" feature wasn't working. I tried it. It is working. Perhaps you should try using it next time.

And since it's a contamination related question, my thinking is it belongs in the contamination forum.

Perhaps this question ought to be part of the Shroomery FAQ, if it's asked so many times.

Of course, after 1050 posts, I suppose most questions in this forum would seem repetitive.

I would have thought that the answer to this question is just to obvious as that it would be put in the FAQ, but I just might do it....

I'm done with drugs and growing mushrooms forever, or at least until the current drug laws change, its not worth the risk to me. Thank you for your information that you have provided me shroomery, but I will not be using it. Thanks Moe for deleting my posts, Good bye all, and have great lives. -merk227

C?mon.... Just wash it out like you normaly do your dishes and that?s it.

(I?m speaking from my own experience)

In reply to:

Really? here's the forum description.... Mushroom Cultivation
If you're trying to grow Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms and you have any questions, this is the forum for you.

Notice the key word here.... cultivation. Jar cleaning is absent from this description. Also notice the lack of the words..... all newbie questions belong in this forum.

And what the hell is "iding"?

jar prep i thought was part of cultivation you need to do it to cultivate where else would you put it other than the contams but general contam stuff gets talked about all the time here. like i made my terr. to be contam free, spray area with lysol stuff like that is general cultivation stuff but something like what is this green contam that gets in my stuff may not be a general question. what about bleach dunk tek it was posted here and talked about all the time but this tek is about improving dunking to control contams should it go in the contam forum as well?
what does the mod say

'iding'=identifying or ID-ing phonetically but not gramatically

love that two inch but spins shit its my new pickup line

Ah, ic...
I guess we will have to make a Jar Cleaning Forum and off course also a Pressure Cooking Forum since pressure cooking is a cooking procedure and not mushroom cultivation....

luvdemshrooms, get a grip, take a timeout.

Guys, I understand that you want certain questions asked in certain forums.
No problem. I just figured after the many hours of reading in these forums
I would have seen this question but have not. Again, sorry and thanks for your
imput. I will try to make sure to ask in the correct forum next time.
