Okaaay.... a few days ago, i found a green spot next to my mycelium.. i thought that the cake was doomed until yesterday i found that my mycelium had ingulfed the green spot and is no longer there! this rises a question though... could that bluish green spot be brusing? or was it contam? the jar is next to 100% colonized and i plan on birthing it on monday. any ideas on what that spot was? (sorry i have no pic)

mycelium from psychoactive mushrooms will tend to be blue or have a blue tint to it.

A healthy mycelium can eat the green stuff especially if the cake is not too moist.

...why do we throw out contams?
because they are dangerous, right....!?!
even if he says the mycelium has overtaken the green mold,
doesnt mean the contaminated nutrients are nuetralized.,
mushrooms are 97% water, therefore absorbing it all, good & bad.
i dont know about you, but i would not want to be the lab rat whos gonna try em.

If it is mearly green mold then you dont have to wory about what got absorbed. Green mold sucks, but cant hurt you.

Strong, healthy mycelium can actually be pretty competitive and sometimes down right aggresive, as long as it is stronger or more active than the contam it can take it over in the same way molds/bacterias do mycelium.
If it is green mold you should be O.K.---BUT-- just because you don't see it on the surface does NOT mean that it has gone away, That stuff has a way of finding very small places in the middle of cakes/casing to survive. The good news is.... you should still get fruits and they will be fine to eat. After the first flush, however, it may show on the surfacw again when the mycelium is temporarily weak from fruiting.
This tray was infected badly with green mold(you can barely see it in the upper right corner), as you can see still a nice flush and saw two more afterwards.
