When I have the time to do that I'll do it right so I don't get banned from there for 3 years

I wish I had the time to bake one of my child hood friends some cookies , if I did I don't think she would eat them

Things aren't peaches and cream

Or whatever

But it's cool I dont know just surprises like in a way

Just read an interesting article about a family that won prize money in 1988.  McDonalds pressed 80 million flexidisc records, and one of them entitled the owner to a million dollars (1.968 million in today’s money (over 2.5 million in CAD)).  More often than not, lottery/prize winners don’t do well in the long run.  It’s easy to think, “hey I’m not a goddamn moron, that much money would improve my life”, but it happens to so many people that I gotta think it’s easy to fuck up.  I guess the first thing you should do is hire a financial advisor.

Here’s the article if anyone is interested:  https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/vbqwb4/what-happened-to-the-winner-of-mcdonalds-1988-dollar1-million-flexi-disc-contest

I worked at a grocery store once upon a time, and there was this old lady who came in every single day, and she’d buy 20$ of lotto drawing tickets, and a 20$ scratch-off.  Every day, 40$.  Idk how long she’d been doing it for, but I can only assume that she’d spent many thousands of dollars like that.  But one day, one of her 20$ scratch off tix yielded her 2 million dollars.  The day she bought it was the last time she ever came into the store, she seemed to stop playing lotto after that.  I saw her once months later, just around town, and asked how it was winning all that money.  She said she’d just been laying low; family members, friends, acquaintances just come out of the woodwork when word gets out that you’re a sudden millionaire.  No idea how it planned out for that old lady, but I hope she was sensible with it.

For me I don't feel like it's even an option to go live in another country. You have multiple citizenships right?

My ancestors are all from Ireland (and one branch who were Irish but lived in Scotland) but it's too long ago for any kind of grandfathered in citizenship. My mom's generation can get British citizenship via the Scotland connection but they are the last ones. I wish Canada would team up with some other countries Euro zone style.

You need three people who don’t know each other. A financial advisor, a lawyer, and regular accountant. When you see one you don’t sign shit until the other two look at it. Make sure all three know if there’s even a hint of anything unscrupulous you’re going for blood. You make sure your wealth is growing by at least 3% a year. You still got a job: you gotta check that shit every fucking day.

Man, the strategies that people use to fuck up the newly wealthy are clever as fuck. You think shit i went to a reputable bank and followed their advice. Ninja please. They’ll own your assets faster than you can say wtf happened. It doesn’t mean you’re stupid or wasteful if you lose it.

Uhg I'm ok but I've been having bad mycology times. Prepped all kinda shit before I realized my agar was bacterial and then I was like "fine no big deal, I've got a backup spore print!" Get the SAB out and unwrap that sucker and it's a swab. Wasnt ready for a swab...  4/4 plates failed from the swab. I have part of a print that ive gone back to 4-6 times now and I'm worried it's not viable.

On the flip side minecraft was fucking awesome today. I got a really good map by luck and I love the smell of malt liquor in the evenings and lucky for me 40's are on the menu

I never tried Minecraft. Seems fun. Right now I'm playing B.O.T.W. and just ordered Luigi's Mansion 3 without ever playing 1, or 2. When Nintendo Switch came out it was a waste of money. Now I have one and it's awesome. Was just playing Mario on the subway and sometimes I take it to the lake to play.

I almost had to get into a fight on the Subway stop. A crazy homeless guy left his backpack and walked away and some guy was trying to be nice and said "How are you doing sir, did you realize you left your backpack?" I could tell the guy wasn't from here because in Oakland, CA you don't try to make friends with the homeless or even interact.

The homeless guy was a big black guy and after the kid told him he left his pack, the homeless guy said "I don't give a fuck about the or you." Then he hit the guy pretty hard and started coming at me. I went to grab my knife out of my pack and gave him a look like "I'm not going to put up with your shit" and he left and then the cops came to get him.

Time for Mac n Cheese with smoked pork butt!

We hooked up a keyboard to the base station of my kid's Switch for typing stuff in Minecraft. Unfortunately on Switch you can't use the keyboard and mouse instead of the controller though.

I've been messing with making self replicating buildings with command blocks. But it's easy to crash the game.

Using a keyboard and mouse for gaming is so awkward for me and I play a lot of puter games too. For some games like Civ and Rimworld it is great to use, but for games like GTA and Witcher I don't know how people can use a keyboard?

I'm not sure what you mean by "command blocks" but sounds like a lot of trouble to play a video game.

Gamestop had a sale where you buy 2 used games and get 2 free. I thought that was a great deal so I went there and there wasn't 1 decent game on the shelf, They made me remember why I buy games from Ebay and not them.

Keyboard itself is kind of archaic and a pain to game with
but in your example of GTA and Witcher
my own approach when gaming on PC has been to use the controller for most gameplay
then in periods of aiming to shoot (far more frequent in GTA, but Witcher 3 has the crossbow)
left hand the controller to move around, and right hand the mouse for camera control and aiming for the increased accuracy over the thumbstick

but yeah, for character movement and world travel the analog stick on controller outperforms keyboard in all regards

serendipitously just came across a video on youtube that challenged my assumptions on this
a guy who has been gaming his whole life had his wife play a bunch of games as a non-gamer to see how she understands the "language of games"

he talks about how the controller games (including the original NES Mario) he challenged her to play
were more laborious for her because she does not comprehend controllers as a means of input

but then he had her try a first person PC game, and she felt the keyboard controls were easier to grasp
because she works with a keyboard daily and knows where the keys are vs. not knowing where controller buttons are
but she did not readily intuit that the mouse was associated with looking around, because in standard business computer work it is not used to change the orientation of the screen

I always felt like how your hands rest on a desk to operate a mouse and keyboard wasn't all the comfortable. I know you can pay good money for proper ergo equipment but it can get pretty crazy. Special desks, weird mice that sit sideways, special shit to rest your wrists on. Modern controllers make sense. I've thought before that it seems like people will want ocular tracking eventually, but I'm not sure if that takes the skill out of it too much or not.

yeah, the advantage of a keybind system is that it affords greater adaptability
but the straight-backed business desk style of sitting and working is not itself designed around comfort in the way that a couch is
with that said, my old roommate had his computer hooked up to his flatscreen tv, then just sat on the couch with a wireless keyboard and mouse
but he only played League of Legends, and debate about relative degrees of skill required to play could be had

personally have a custom keypad to use instead of a keyboard, it has a built in joystick wired to the WASD or arrow key movements
but it is not truly analog, so the variation in locomotive speed that comes with an analog control stick (walking, to jogging, to running, based on how far the stick is tilted) is not available to me
but as stated, anything that lets me use the controller for movement while still having access to mouse aiming the keypad is put aside from an X360 controller
the keypad was roughly the same price as my Switch Pro controller, that had to be purchased in addition to the system since they only pack-in with the joycons and mount

am looking at getting my Switch Pro controller set up with my computers bluetooth to use it in place of my old X360
Switch Pro controller is arguably the most comfortable controller I have owned, and recently found out that Steam is set to recognize it and change compatible game prompts over to match the button layout
so that is neat

think ocular tracking could actually present interesting venues for new skill ceilings
since distractive measures would become so much more powerful in disorienting the player's view of the game world

but it is really good to see additional peripherals being designed to provide adaptability for console controllers
which Nintendo has been good at forging ahead with, despite my own (conventional gamer informed) view that the reimagined game control schemes are more gimmicky than anything
but also Microsoft made a genuine effort to provide as well, but it comes out in an expensive and complicated manner like PCs

There are different ways to play it. Survival mode is akin to a traditional RPG where your stuff is hard earned. In creative mode it's more of a pure sandbox and you can get and do whatever you want more or less. Commands let you take things farther and write programs within the game that can modify the world for you in ways that would be tedious "by hand". It's just a different way to have fun with the game if you are into programming type stuff.

With the keyboard it's just that if you are using it to type commands, there is a lot of awkward switching back and forth to the controller when there doesn't have to be if you could control the game from the keyboard. A controller works fine to play the regular game.

Loph, I think you’ll like Luigi’s Mansion 3.  One of my kids got it for Xmas, and I’ve watched a bunch of it, it’s pretty cool.  I played part 2 in that series, it was also fun.  We also got him Pokémon Shield, but I don’t mess with that stuff.  Pokémon is weird to me, I’ve never understood it.

I’m not a real gamer or anything, but my son put Resident Evil 4 on his switch so I’ve been revisiting that one.  It’s a lot of fun.  It’s crazy, if you had asked me to recall anything about that game earlier in the week, I’d have been able to write a few sentences maybe.  But as I play, I’m remembering a bunch of the secrets and techniques that make it fun to play.  Tactics and specifics.  It’s weird how our memories work.

Related to video games, but not really, I’ve been watching a series on Netflix about the Witcher.  It’s a decent fantasy show so far, makes me want to try the game.  May do that at some point.

Aloha Shroomery! :sunny:

Im on the Big Island, having a blast. Im at Mauna Kea vistor center, just dropped two hits of mystery acid at 4:20pm Hawai'i time. Took two hits cause i took a half yesturday at Hapuna Beach (one of my favs).

Sadly the road to the summit is closed due to high winds (35 MPH) so Im gonna have to watch the sunset on mystery acid half way up the mountain. Waiting on my best braddah to make it da visitor center. Gonna make the best of it.
