DISTILLATE CARTS

So I recently bought a cartridge on 420. I had tried one a friend gave me for a b day present. Bought a pen type vape, 3 heat settings and seemed to work pretty good for my use. The mate, who rarely smokes due to it being too harsh likes the vape distillate cartridge. What is the best most reliably clean cart in CO. Which ones do I need to seek out by name and which dispensaries have them. I've done just a surface search for info on the many different ones and it seems like distillate carts are the best ones. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Light smoker here and do not like dabs or concentrates. We both like sativa mainly.

I would stay away from "flav". They have a lot of terpenes rather than straight goodies. Makes it hard to vape at times. Plus, it just takes more.
I don't really like carts that much, but they are convenient for going out and going to shows.

Yep, not my main smoking/imbibing choice. I have a water bong I love or a chillum. The mate loves it and rarely smokes. Thank you!

Nothing but fake shit flooding ATL. I make a good amount off of it but can't help but wonder what i'm actually smoking. I'd hate to find out i've been selling the K2 equivalent of oil to these jabronis :lol:

I hate distillates tbh. 

For me the high is really anxious and on edge, and the body high is completely non existant. It just lacks the "full" high that weed gives.

I like Craft Sesh and Evolabs-Croma, Spherex aren't bad either. I prefer strain specific distillates. Easy to find in Co.
CSC only makes flavored distillates now. Who the hell wants flavored oil? Sour lime or passion fruit oil? Lol

My mate likes the short duration and not having to actually smoke weed, he smokes a little tiny bit every once in a while. Loves edibles, but is VERY sensitive to them.

I concur :yesnod: . I despise flavored distillates/carts, I want to taste the herb, not a blend of flavors.



I'm not the biggest fan of vape carts/pens in general but I have puffed on some that were smooth & tasty and quite similar to the actual strain....

....but if there is one bit of suggestion to drop to you T-Rex, look for something that's "strain specific". As in, an oil/distillate that has the terps and cannabinoid profile from one single strain, and not some gimmicky high THC distillate that has been blended with some random terps/flavors.

Look for things like "single source"..."strain specific"..."Full spectrum"...Look for carts that are named by the strain they're made from, and not those with silly/gimmicky names or those named after a "flavor".

thats why I suggested to toko ones if they are still available. It wasn't generic fruity terps but the actual thc, cbd, cbn, and natural terps pulled from the grow. All were grown in house in a breaking bad like environment.
I toured the facility before I started repping the product. Supercritical C02 extraction, winterizing and finalizing with everclear. tastes like real weed not tutti frutti

None. Live resin carts are way better imo they're the only carts that I've tried that came close to some bong rips or a dab

I’m 60 miles from ATL and got my first distillate cart, pen, or whatever you call it a month ago. I don’t even know the terminology here, wax, oils, dabs, etc. I got my distillate set up because I thought it would be easier on my lungs than smoking, but I don’t think it is. I’ll cough throughout the next day if I hit the cart a few times a night. The buzz is also a little different than smoking, but that’s OK. I switched back to my bong and my cough is gone, but I wonder if my cart is a counterfeit and what it might contain. I think I need to go with my original plan to get a vaporizer for dry herb, and just save the cart for traveling. I do like that it’s small, discreet, and doesn’t smell like a bag of weed.

So, after a year or so of trying some carts I'm thinking live rosin might be a better choice than distillate. There's so  many! I have my eyes on : evolab, apothecaty, green dot labs, seed and smith dart, colorado cannabis company.

Does anyone have any others to suggest? I'm picking some up today and would like some input. I don't want unnaturally flavored ones.

I haven't tried live resin cart yet, but it's on my list to do so. Cresco live resin carts are available at the shop, let me know how it works out for you!

Heads up, live rosin is a bit different than live resin (and quite a bit more expensive). I recommend trying just live resin to start simply for $$ reasons. 

When it comes to live resin I generally recommend to go for lighter color cartridges.  Darker ones seem to have a heavier flavor to them but I wouldn't say in a particularly pleasant way. I would say ask the dispensary workers which brand they like to use and I bet they'll point you in the right direction (I'm not familiar with colorado brands)

Absolutely! Rosin is the better choice by far compared to distillate! lol

I consider live-rosin to be the king of cannabis extracts.

I'm super surprised I didn't mention this in my previous post in this thread from almost 2 years ago.

I highly suggest rosin and live-rosin above any other type of extract. Next in line would be live resin. Distillate is doo doo IMO...Rosin contains the entire spectrum of everything in the herb, nothing has been stripped away. Great flavor and a high that is more like the whole-herb and not just a high THC type high.

I don't live in Colo so I'm not familiar with any of the brands/lines that are available out there. But rosin & live rosin is def the way to go :yesnod: :thumbup: .

Live-resin can be really good too!...but I'd choose rosin over resin if given the choice.

Live-rosin can be pretty expensive, but if one can afford it then that'd be pretty much the only type of extract I'd touch.

Live "resin" is a bit different from live "rosin". Rosin is made with out any solvents.

The "resin" is extracted via solvents.

The "rosin" is extracted via mild heat and intense pressure. (the herb or hash is wrapped in a fine mesh screen/bag and pressed under intense pressure between two hot plates, and all of the oils within the herb are pressed out, leaving all of the plant matter behind).


Both live-resin and live-rosin are made from fresh frozen material, that's what the "live" part means, which is when the buds are flash frozen immediately after being harvested (this preserves them in their "live" state, all of the oils/terps/aromatic compounds are preserved in their fresh state versus being cured/oxidized).

There is also just "rosin", which is made from cured/dried material instead of fresh-frozen material.


Both live-resin and live-rosin can be fantastic extracts, but I feel rosin has a bit more of a "full spectrum" and is truer to what the flower is like...There is definitely a lot of high quality live-resin out there though!

At the moment I'm working with live-resin, I had some rosin a couple months ago.

I do enjoy live resin carts. IDGAF about the science of putting live resin in distillate bc I know the ppl who make this shit are fucking me anyway. I just like how the ones I've had with that label taste a lot like weed and get my body stoned

Picked up 2 onces (one shake), sesh/panacea premium cart, 3 co cannabis club carts (all are resin or rosin), and a green dot cart. 2oz's 5 carts for 270.

Haven't tried them yet. The one in my reach is a durban poison x tangie live resin, but it also states "distillate" and "cannabis extracted with ethanol". I just noticed this, hmmm

As far as some reliable high quality carts: Olio, Viola or Green Dot Labs are very nice.  The vape smells like the terps of the strain you select, but there is no combustion to create the same smell profile that a joint would create.

Yeah I don't smoke the weed because it's illegal but I want to try someday.

it's just the thought of the super strong smell that makes me worried so these vape carts sound like a good idea.

It seems as far as smuggling terms goes it would be easy. I don't want this to turn into a discussion about how to break the law- but like- legally speaking with as much THC is out there it seems pretty hard to control?>


And I mean even Delta 8 is flooding everywhere and it IS legal and apparently is similar to delta9- if not better some some people.

Who you tellin'? I grew up in Texas! Middle aged white guy driving a decent car, not even more than 5 miles over the speed limit etc...he found out he had some cancer trying to come back after 2 sessions with chemo in the past 20 years too.

That is strange it says "distillate" as well as "extracted with ethanol".

Most "live-resin" is extracted with butane and/or propane and/or a special blend of similar solvents.

Ethanol can make a good extract but from what I understand it is expensive and not the most efficient way to extract the goods (I believe alcohols also tend to pull a lot of chlorophyll and other undesirable components).

Weird :shrug: .

Durban Poison x Tangie does sound like a tasty and heady/uplifting strain though!

OK, so, I tried them all and the most harsh one was the green dot labs and the most expensive. The cart I got from Co Cannabis Co was really good to me. The high doesn't last too long and it's not a "complete" high, but fantastic for traveling in a car, plane, or boat! I'm going back for a 25 buck shake ounce and making budder this week. I'm picking up another cart too. The "sesh" carts seem to be OK as well.

Yea pretty much, they are all just different consistencies/textures of solvent extracts.

"Sauce" is another. Also "badder". And "Jam". And "diamonds" (tho that's usually just THCa crystals themselves)

The amount of terps an extract has plays a role in what the texture will be like, also how much of the THCa has formed crystals....I imagine there are various ways to produce a specific texture/consistency, temperature and time probably playing a big role just like when precipitating DMT in a solvent and growing crystals. I've heard some folks "whip" some extracts and this produces a certain texture, but I'm not sure what if any other benefits comes from "whipping" (?).


My favorite is a bunch of micro to small sized crystals suspended in a golden sauce :drooling: . When ever the extracts I get have some chunks of THCa crystals I usually smash them anyway for a more homogenized material lol.

Stuff like this, this is actually the brand of live resin I've been getting lately (Cali tho), great flavor compared to some other "live resin" extracts I've had from other brands. This is what the stuff I've been working with lately looks like, with at least one little chunk of THCa crystal.>>>>
