Looks like a fun time.  I only watched a lil bit of it.

So,  one thing to remember is the longer your lids are open in the sab, the more chance its going to get contaminated.  I'd really suggest getting a regular scalpel instead of that big ass knife, and also look into using shorter jars.  Watching you stab that agar with that knife like 6 times, with your hand basically in the jar, is not the best technique.  Also moving things around often times in your SAB, when not neccesary, leads to a greater contamination rate.

Overall though, I do beleive you'll be able to get a clean culture with at least some of what you've done.  Keep up the cool videos.

probably not the best idea to ask advice from someone that still hasn’t managed to produce a a single fruit yet after 2.5 months he should have at least gotten lucky by now but he just ignores advice and does his own wacky shit. For some people its more about the journey than the destination I guess

Lc or LI to bags works great, assuming you have a clean culture that is, which is the only thing you should worry about at first. Once you have a clean culture you can use it or expand it in lc, but if its the slightest bit contaminated liquids will make the problem waaay worse, but with a good clean LC you can pour a shitload into dryer prepped grain and get faster colonization than a wedge, but IMO LI or agar to millet the  g2g to bags is a better route, assuming you have a flow hood, otherwise a liquid injection might be a better option but I dont fuck around with needles and injection ports, a2g all day

Just so you know, I dont agree with what you say about my process. And you're not even right about how long it has been. And I had my first fruits from a basic PF tek back in 2015.

I could make an argument for how you after 2,5y of membership isnt a TC, so obviously you are lacking in merit and accomplishment yourself. But who cares? My work is improving all the time, and I will eventually reach my goals. And when I do, I will be good at it because I have identified principles of the process and the crucial skills for me to succeed, something equally important to being able to follow a set recipe.

come on folks. Can't we all just get a long? Ayeplus is a great member and isn't lacking in merit and accomplishment. I don't think attacking him his your best option here. He was making a perfectly sound point. Although i do admire your perseverance I wouldn't recommend people seek advice from you yet. It's not an attack. Just simply stating the obvious.

Yeah, I mean people take my advice pretty often and I haven't shown you all anything of my own application of that information.
For that reason, I wouldn't recommend listening to what I spout.

On that note, here's some random evidence:

Now listen to me!!! ()

My ratings speak for themselves. As do my results. You have been given more than adequate instruction to succeed if you were willing to accept it, from myself as well as many others, multiple TC’s included. And btw 2019-2014= 5 years.

My comment was not meant with disrespect, but as a fair warning to someone less experienced that following your path will be a Long and winding one, as you seem content to enjoy the journey there as opposed to wanting results that is fine by me

However I wouldn’t suggest that anyone follow you as you don’t seem to have had much success recently,  Glad you got some fruits 5 years ago, but in the two months I’ve been following this thread all youve managed to grow is mold and bacteria. I wish you the ultimate success and I tried to help you, but I don’t think anyone should be coming to you for advice until you figure out how to produce a clean culture and some fruits.

Need some proof?

I honestly wouldn't recommend anyone take advice from anyone that can't REPEATEDLY produce clean cultures and nice grows. Why would anyone? There are plenty of us around these parts that know the what, when, how, why and where of basic magic cultivation.

You guys would have a fuller point if we were in page one, but AyePlus is repeating himself and others. How many more disparaging posts about me being this or that do we need? You dont fill art galleries with identical pictures, family. Its not constructive.

I dont pretend to have more knowledge than him or to be a credible source - thats beside the point - even I am a beginner, he doesnt need to generally refute-stamp me or anyone, he can point out errors, correct misinformation where it is given, he doesnt need to come into my thread and tell my pen pal Coffee that  I ignore advice or belittle my process.

I have taken plenty of advice, which is why I'm improving and gathering up more and more spawn for a really intensive fruiting period. I can document how I have improved, what advice I have taken, and the equipment I have purchased based on the advice of others. Who will pay me for doing that?

Lets now move on from this sideshow. There are plenty of other junk growers that put in way less effort and communication than I do: go tell them how lacking they are.

They also have shorter threads, since obviously some of the people coming into this thread are not actually familiar with it's content.

This whole forum is just people trying to help others succeed in growing magic, if you want to reinvent the wheel, thats great, have fun, noone can help you do that because we’re all pretty happy with the old round model

I’m merely trying to help coffee avoid a lot of disappointment. You dont seem like you want help, you want success on your own terms, which is totally fine if thats your trip but dont ask for help because you’re lost in uncharted waters and then when someone throws you a map you toss it away and say you want to find your own way.

most people dont have the perseverance to fail as much as you appear to have based on this thread and trying to follow your ways will likely discourage them,

I applaud your tenacity, but isn't the whole point here to grow mushrooms?

And just fyi naming your thread after a satirical website makes it hard to have much confidence in anything you are saying.

I’ll resume my silence in this thread and continue to hope for the best for you.

If it is solely intended as a grow log at this point I recommend you take it to your journal where it is less public and will draw less attention.

@ Aye if you really mean well its not coming through or being received.
This whole thread is a 25 page proof im learning, taking advice and getting better. Take a good hard look at it and tell yourself it isn't so.
Consider the start. Consider the start. Consider the Start.

I've repeatedly through the thread both directly said and hinted at verbally that I have a learning disabilty and that some things are hard for me in this hobby.

Since you dont take this into account and you no longer actually post grow-related information in your replies, just lamenting my lackings, you are not heeded as constructive.

Your call how you want to post. And if you choose to stay silent, that is also up to you.

Did you know that originally it was another poster in this thread that suggested the title? Yeah - a nice little tidbit of information to be aware of when you complain about the thread title..

why so depressed and sour about it. have you considered the possibility that I'm happy for every little breakthrough Im having? Have you really?
Maybe I'm smiling and feeling really content with what I'm doing while actually amassing the spawn needed to fruit. You can't have been reading much of the recent thread if you havent seen that

I haven't read every post in this thread nor do I remember every sentence I did read, I gave lots of advice earlier on but like many others got tired of repeating things without them being listened to or acknowledged, the only reason I'm still following this thread is because I want to see it when you finally do succeed.

:grampofapproval:

@ coffee, 150 dry grams is like 1 good monotub or a 2-3  shoeboxes, at that scale LC vs G2g wont be much if a different timeline.

buut that being said why not try both?

I could have tagged aye years ago he is more then capable but the tag isn't for personal achievement it's for new growers and the site itself/ search engine it's not there for ego.
Aye is happy and content to help out when he has free time let's just appreciate that rather then attack him for nothing.

We are getting there. Didn't we have agreement early on, that getting clean spawn was the #1 crucial skill in this hobby? I've seen many discussions boil down to that.

@Aye

If you feel dissapointed, or not acknowledged, then I want to satisfy and acknowledge you. Thank you for all your advice and your posting in this thread which has been about helping me to grow.

Accept my sincere apology, end of message

no worries man, didnt feel any kind of way really just trying to be objective and helpful, although I understand how it can come off as dismissive and brash, I mean the best even if I'm not always at my best behavior. its funny because I perceive myself as optimistic but oftentimes others don't see it until they know/understand me a little better. plan for the worst and work towards the best is my M.O.

also I do enjoy your sense of humor, and the new thread name made me lol.

that myc looks good but what's up with the texture of the agar?

if you can find shallower containers for your agar it will be much easier to get tools in and out of.

@ Cron and V

thanks guys, means alot coming from two of the cultivators I respect most on the site. I'll keep helping when I can, tag or no tag, doesnt make a difference to me, I really appreciate the community here.
:highfive:

Aye, you are invited to movie night and invited to comment on the content you see during the next video show.

Also I have concluded it's not ethical to shake the mushrooms just to make them grow faster. Come on guys, thats like beating a sheep to make it produce more wool. Not ethical

Word, looks like we are moving on. Thanks for having a good attitude folks.

Yes, clean inoculate and clean spawn are absolutely numero uno. Your myc looks good in the pic above. Congrats. Also, what aye said, you'd find shallower containers to make your life much much more easy.

And thanks for the kind words, AyePlus.

I was planning on just focusing on making more spawn the next days, but these recent outcries that I am not growing mushrooms fast enough has made me decide to put some spawn into fruiting conditions. I'm not going to go into great detail on what I did, but everything was sterilized in the PC and all actual work done in the SAB most carefully.

1.  Make a bottom layer
2.  Spread out a cake
3.  Put more coir/verm above it
4.  Mix it as good as possible

This is the first MeaCulpaUIO tray of psilocybe cubensis, made from cronicr's spores.

Its a jar of 100% colonized BRF/Verm taken to verm/coir. I'm pcing some wetted/slightly below field capacity vermiculite to case it with.
The Jar had No Funny Smell, only GOOD TIMES SHROOMS SMELL

-- but the cake seemed a little dry. Thats why I'm im thinking that you guys should decide if you think what you see in the video should be cased or not. What I call casing is to disperse a thin layer of PCed vermiculite over it inside the SAB, and then close it.

This tray has holes/openings

Good luck man. You are so far away from any recommended teks that it's a little to give advice. I've grown of super thin subs before, just to see what would happen. The main two things in achieving a nice yield (well, there are a few but) are available water and available food. You are greatly lacking in both. A casing could help supply and retain water but no one really recommends a straight verm casing. any way, it may help but WILL NOT cause you to have massive yields.

Also, you didn't need to do that in the SAB and your didn't need to PC the coir. Neither will cause it to fail but just aren't necessary.

Let's see how it develops. This should colonize and fruit given no contams.

Spawn 12/11 - It should start fruiting after 2 weeks *24/11 - Let's see

I need to see what the mycelium does in this situation and why/if/how this doesnt work to understand and learn from it, the principle

I crave to see why this wont fruit
