Previously on "My GRAND OPENING"...
Quote:

So its my closet in a closet set up. This way everything is hidden as soon as I shut my closet, for any unexpected visitors and so forth.

On the top shelf, above the martha there is a TiT incubator, off the ground away from contams and in the most stable heat environment of the closet. Also, I have an Ultrasonic humidifier.

This is the model I am using. It was VERY easy to modify, I just sillicone sealed a pvc elbow piece into the vent and ran a hose into my tubing set up. It is super quiet and there is a control for how much mist you want to go through. I have it all the way down on mist, and also put polyfill in the outlets of my pvc tubes to slow the flow of fog which allows me to leave it on longer and not getting super high rh.... it's still too high. its at about 90% rh right now.. but i want to figure out a way so i can continue running it for better FAE but have control of how high the rh is, without switching to cool mist, any suggestions??

Ok so inside I used 1 1/2" pvc to construct tubing inside the martha.
I wanted a way for it to come down from the top because thats where my coolmist was going to have to go, i think this way works really well, allows for very easy flow and does not allow an excess of water to drain into the martha which is nice. there are caps on the bottom and every week or whatever i can just drain all the excess water build up into a cup.

inside i'm using two 3' wire shelves hung by chain. the chain is ziptied to the martha supports and i used S hooks to connect the shelves to the chain. it is very stable and i have no troubles with swaying. i also hooked up some blue light ropes on the inside for stealth lighting at night time if i dont want to use the flouro light standing up next to the left of the martha.

i got the taylor 1458 (i think?) model hygrometer inside, i'm gonna get two more remotes, one for each shelf and one for inside my cake chamber. so i can sit in bed and push a few buttons and check on my babies...

on the bottom of the martha is my cake chamber with my first little tester cake in. its a brf/verm 1/2 pint cake that for some reason colonized 100%.. but only like 75% up the jar... i opened up the jar and the top just like fell right off, so it was too dry.. or maybe it was just dry verm to begin with.. i ordered the jars off the internet, so i dunno.. it could have been a huge layer of dry verm to protect them while shipping?? i dont know.. anyways, the cake was just birthed yesterday so i will keep an eye on it just to see how its goin, or if its a cake death trap..
at first, the hydroton wasn't giving enough RH because of the big container and no cakes, so i threw a big ass bowl of perlite into it, and that gave me an instant boost of perlite.. its messy shit though and spilled into my hydroton... grrr

This is kinda blurry, not much better.. but I'll get my girlfriends camera tomorrow, details dont really matter yet.. not until im showing pins and the such.. i cant wait to start fruiting..
im waiting for a replacement jiggler on my dang pc! grr
i have everything i need, except my working pc

pinset

harvest

harvest time on one of my cakes.. the other one has another day left.. maybe two..

came out to about 50 grams wet.. its in the nesco as we speak
That was a few sections from the start of a log. All the rye jars colonized, lost two to contams... all the others were cased and are currently incubating..
The four cakes are still givin flushes

Just a few from one brf cake

A lot of changes were made to the lab..
The coolmist was added into the same tubing as the humidifier, and the humidifier is on a timer. It runs for 5 minutes ever 3 hours of the day. I'm also using a new light that is brigther and is supposed to represent natural sunlight.

A desk was moved over in the same corner for a clean work space.

Got the nesco on top dryin right now, but normally there's a glove box sitting on there. Have organizing drawers that have everything you need. A drill handy always charged ready to make jars. And also my second incubator stashed underneath.

In the incubator underneath the desk I have two casings colonizing, a few jars of wbs, like 9 jars for poo cakes, and a few regular brf jars.

One casing from the small incubator.

Brf/verm jar

On the other side of the closet you got all the necessary myco supplies such as pre pasturized tennstudd, box of syringes/needles, coir, crushed oyster, jars, extra hydroton, and more..

Down below the big incubator is on the floor with a few casings which are colonizing sitting on top, with blankets over.

Open up the incubator and its full of quart jars with rye, half pints of brf verm, a mycobag and a couple experiment jars as well as a bin full of bb lc jars.

Got spores?

shout out to spores101 for the random free syringe

Last night i soaked cracked corn in the jars then strained them and tossed them in the pc today
this is how they came out

oops is that a hookah back there? who put that there...

theres a bit of verm in there too to soak up an excess water i wasnt able to strain
I have quite a bit more pictures but im unable to upload them at the moment.. Ill upload the rest tomorrow and continue to give updates
Any input, suggestions, criticism, comments welcome. Thanks guys

In a week or two i should have 6 casings in the martha... can't wait. Tired of looking at these stupid cakes
And in a few days ill be birthing poo cakes, so that should be fun.
Tomorrow I will be posting pictures of my two experiment poo/brf/verm half pint cakes that are colonizing with the strongest myc i've seen yet.. Ripping through the jars, solid white.. I believe its texas strain but i didnt label it and forgot. But I have the pictures, just can't upload them yet.. I will do it after 12am tonight
and thanks snaggletooth

Just knocked up those 3 quarts of Cracked corn with 6 cc of LC.. they should be done quite fast, unless I have a contam problem. Ill keep it posted as well.
And gods... not everything is in the martha.. actually the martha shelves are empty right now.. i have a PMP in the bottom of the martha that has the cakes in it.. the casings will be in the martha while fruiting, but right now they are still colonizing.. the lcs are in an incubator, but yeah.. i am doing just about everything i can get my hands on. next step for me is agar/cloning/isolation.. but that wont be for a while.. i still need to work on my casing and pinset techniques... i love this hobby

Cracked Corn is honestly the shit. It's by far the most user friendly, quick colonizing spawn I've used. Give it a try, you'll see!

i just harvested 6 shrooms off a pf cake that weighed out to 15 grams wet.. i have a bunch of pictures of them and other stuff but I have to wait like 4-5 more hours to upload them.. also, two of my casings are about 95% colonized so in a day or two ill put a casing layer on and stick them back in the incubator. im thinking of going to buy jiffy mix.. is crushed oyster shells enough for a buffer or am i going to have to pick up hydrated lime, ive heard horror storys about the lime so im kinda nervous about using it

oh i've already tossed it.. and i was pretty sure it was a case of the meanie, im just wondering what may have caused it and ways to prevent it in the future, besides the regular sterilzing tips..
im guessing it either got contammed from peeking at it too much?
or..
when i was spawning the rye to the poo i did it in open air.. and just mixed it around with my hand, put some foil over it, poked holes, another layer of foil, and covered with a blanket. should i do it in a glove box next time? and maybe not use a blanket...

Nice setup man! What kind of timing are you using with your humidifier and FAE system?

Im using a digital timer for the humidifier, it runs for 5 minutes every 3 hours; and I have the coolmist running 24/7.
I dont usually have to run the humidifier unless I am inducing a pinset on casings, then I run the timer and it keeps the RH above 90%
With just the coolmist running, the martha stays at about 85% rh which is good enough for fruiting casings.
