1. I don't know whether Turkey belongs in NATO or not, and I'm leaning towards not because there are too many elements of militant Islam in their government.

Hmmmmm I don't know if I'd agree with all is well, as there are another couple of hundred thousand displaced peoples,... which is probably better than more dead people, I guess.

Most probably possibly my TDS is hampering me from agreeing with you on Trump's genius as I think it belittles the people around him that give him advice... however he did throw all
the balls in the air so to speak, as he did with China... which I kinda dig... the chaos is coming from the U.S. and not the fucking Arabs for a change.

They're fighting again so no Nobel Peace Prize. I guess Mike Pence was the one who brokered the peace treaty, so go figure.

I honestly have no personal feelings in a conflict between Syria and Turkey (which is rare for me. I think they're both pretty fucked up), except hoping this doesn't escalate into something that pits the superpowers into direct conflict.

But who am I kidding? It's never direct conflict. Always proxy war.

Right now, 5am, Fox is saying it wasn't actually the Syrian army, but their proxy, the Free Syrian Army. I have no clue.

When I first read about the ceasefire, my initial thought was "I wonder how is the establishment is going to turn this around?"  People on both sides now love the Kurds and hate our NATO partner Turkey.

Erdogan denied the presence of clashes in northeastern Syria, but there appears to have been airstrikes against the Kurds.

It's clear why the Kurds would want continued fighting (they don't want to leave), but maybe you guys can help me figure out what Turkey gains by violating the ceasefire agreement?  I don't know, we'll see what happens tomorrow (it's now night time there).

Turkey says the Kurds are violating it.  Which brings us back to my earlier statement that everyone is dodging:

The Turks don’t care. They are walking all over trump. They know he won’t do anything, he’s so feckless. He fucking gave the Turks the green light to ethnically cleans a 20 mile by 100 mile strip. It fucking disgusting

I'll bet they're not 'ethnically cleansed' within the 5 day ceasefire period.  After that, they've been warned.

Yes, that sucks for the Kurds, but I think we're finally starting to quit fighting in foreign wars.

Yes.  It sucks to be on the losing side of war, but it's good that a lengthy war is finally ending.  Do you not get this?

No. They are simply providing defensive capability and acting in a police capacity.

Much like American troops haven't fought a single "war" since Korea. It's all been police actions and defensive assistance.
