Just like Kiev though with China the revolutionaries will be killed very slowly over time until there is no revolutionaries to recruit because they know what will happen. The Chinese government won’t fall. I don’t know if that’s fortunate or not. Not sure what that power vacuum would look like. One of the reasons the Berlin Wall fell is because the East German government ACCIDENTALLY announced that travel between east and west would be completely open and they just had to roll with it. That being said these are INCREDIBLY brave people quite simply wanting nothing more then freedom and not a life of poverty and fear.

That's a pretty serious accusation.  Do have evidence that this is happening, or did you just make believe this?

With the G7 summit of all the world most powerful democracies agree with me the the annexation of Crimea was unlawful. What did it for me was watching the Russians kill people in cold blood for a month straight on a live unaltered feed of the battles.

Watching the geopolitical landscape unfold in the past couple of years has been truly insane. I was just turned on to the Iraqi protests happening over the past week and the number of casualties suffered by their people. I have so much survivor guilt as an American. No country in this world is innocent, but to grow up during the War on Terror and begin my professional career and a family during these times of abuse against humanity of which my country either have caused directly, indirectly or turn a negligent eye towards fills me with disgust. I wish I could march into the streets and demand justice. I wish I could go to the at-risk communities and aid in welfare efforts. However, I'm stuck spending 45 hours a week struggling to make my own ends meet with enormous student debt and being told by the older generations, "This is the way things have always been."

Nothing is stopping you from doing the same thing as everyone else.

Except the material comforts that "making ends meet" provides. And your fundamental inability to live like the protesters in Iran/HK--not sure where the next meal is, of if they'll even survive the day.

I don't really blame you, though. I like having an expensive roof over my head, having a car, having consistent meals...and still being able to afford dropping 200$ at a bar on Friday night.

You're housebroken. You won't survive out there without your material comforts. Just like my cat wouldn't survive nature, for lack of experience. The people protesting are not. They have decided that they'd rather not work crushing hours for meager pay, and to deal with the consequences.

I doubt I would, too. Sure, I've roughed it before, but now I'm pretty sure that if I sleep on another park bench my back would hate me all of next week.

I have my own fight here to provide for my family. Don't think for a moment that if the time arises I won't hit the streets. But my relative comfort is the source of my guilt. I benefit from the hegemony of a country whose every action makes me nauseous. Thankfully, I can fight with my voice, for now, without risking the well-being of my loved ones.

I relate.  A recruiter was all ready to send my to South Carolina for the Army long ago but my controlled substance charge, 7 hits of lsd in a "drug free zone" they wouldn't allow it, even for the Army during the Clinton years before the endless wars and war is peace shit.

Since my late father was a shitty father, still loved him though, I could of used that training and discipline.  Plus every serviceman that I have met at bars and parties we can have great conversations and found them to be so cool.  One helped me out once and I thanked him and he just said, that is what Marines do.

Plus he told me how to drink water in Afghanistan since at times the bottled water shipped in is to hot to even drink.  Have always got along and enjoyed the company of servicemen and Native Americans.  Find them interesting. 

Happy 70th China.  America much longer.
