Does anyone know any good spots in Hamilton? this is my first season!

I am also looking to start my own patch, any pointers on how to layer the woodchip and mulch?

It's getting a bit late in the season, but they normally show a few days after the rain. I normally go for the subs (Psilocybin Subraegesia something like that), so I'm normally looking at wood chip areas. Which are all over the city.

But you will be competing with the locals who know where they grow and they will already have their circuits and routine that they follow. I do do a few bushwalks but have only found aminata muscaria in there and that was in April.

I myself have a circuit which used to be good, untill other people found my patches and then the subs used to disappear, but that's hunting in the city for you.

Hope that helps a bit. There used to be a faq floating around from tripme.co.nz which was really good but sadly that site has gone now.

What’s causing the damage? Those mushrooms will cause some damaged to your internal organs!

I found a pretty big patch of these in sawdust/woodchipped dirt but they were also growing right amongst long grass/weeds which I've never seen before with Subaeruginosa or P. Cyanascens complex, unless this is something else and someone wants to correct me? The above photo was taken about half an hour after picking. They all have the same type of damage I've never seen before. Not convinced its slugs or nematodes, maybe changes to the environment or the grass/weeds taking nutrients? Boiled a couple and they seemed to go down alright :wink: though will wait a couple days to be sure before doing any more

This is not an ID Request thread, so you have to start a new one. Did they go blue? It looks like they might go a bit bluish by the look of the top left. Best to post in a new thread. I hope it wasn't a Gallerina.

They are sllightly going blue, although not as much as I would like ;p

Certainly not a gallerina, none of them have ringed stipes

Not all Galerina have a ring on the stipe.

True, but g. marginatas and g. patagonicas do have a ring, I believe they are the only two found in NZ beginners could possibly confuse with subs and cyans? I am quite sure these are P. Cyanascens due to the bare white stem, the way the stem attaches to the wavy green cap, the smell, and the (slight) blueish bruising where I cut the stem and where the cap and gills have been handled. I'm just not sure where they fit in the complex. I have seen slug damage before and it did not look quite like this. Maybe it's a result of too much water with all the rain I have had in my region the past two weeks I'm not sure

These are definitely not P. cyanescens, you will need to make better images to start identifying this to genus let alone species.

As far as I understood it most if not all psiloycbe genus mushrooms in NZ fall under the cyanascens complex? As in they all evolved from them the same way different dogs did from wolves? I am unsure what species these are, but I'm confident on the psilocybe genus. Unfortunately my phone camera is too crap for good photos :frown:
