We are due for a crazy cold snap apparently. I guess the lack of moisture will make it more extreme?

If last weekend is any gauge though, there is still legs left uo here in akl. . .

Soaking or washing mushrooms will degrade potency a bit. With subs they're so potent that it probably wouldn't make much of a difference for most folks.

How does that make sense/any difference when they are outside getting rained on constantly? Pretty sure you're getting this mixed up. OXYGEN degrades PSILOCYBIN. WATER grows MUSHROOMS. Please explain how soaking them in cold water for 5 minutes is going to degrade the psilocybin content to a point that it makes ANY difference at all

Soaking is a little different from rain.
Rain tends to fall from the top
Psillysimon is particularly water soluble.

The (still debated) reason for drying mush asap is to stop psillysimon and psillysin from being impacted by the moisture content.

What 3 things keeps yer drugs happy?
No heat
No light
No moisture.

I'm not doubting you get high AF on all those crazy finds you get. Just insterested in the 'why'

If you use yer spore water to make new beds, wash em, dry em, turn em over if you must :shrug: just keep up the good work.

Putting your dehydrator to a higher heat is actually good because it deactivates the enzymes that degrade the alkaloids.

If heat reduced potency then teas wouldn't work.

The water turns blue based on how degraded the mushrooms were when they were put in, in my opinion anyway? If you find mean fresh ones and you wash them it doesnt go very blue, if you find heavily bruised ones already it will go blue. I'd bet you guys $10 each if we did a controlled experiment [we can do this all together one day maybe :wink:] and we had washed shrooms and unwashed shrooms. We do one dose with only washed, the next month we do one dose with only unwashed. We use the same patch for the test, all picked on the same day. Even then, with such control in place, we would still not able to tell the difference would be my guess.

Ive founds subs growing half underwater, doesnt make them any less potent. The sun and air are far more damaging to mushrooms than any water will ever be!
