Waste of space post...

...Yes, when you hold a thin metal blade in flame they get hot...

Just how hot depends on how high the flame is and how long you hold it there. Number 1 blade tips curl under high heat, number 11 blades usually won't...

I know you didn't ask that, but I figured I would throw out SOME piece of useful information here for the next reader...

My apologies, I’m just excited the site is back up and wanted to spread a bit of humor. I’ve been stuck on reddit during the blackout and all of the low effort posts must have rubbed off on me.

I have a few handles with blades i use during sterile work sessions. Rotating the tools so the handles don't heat up like happens when you use a single tool/handle for all the work.

I don't fuck with flames. There's a no fire policy aside from the stove in this house. I stick to fresh blades and sterilized handles.

Thank you for the suggestion, that is what I ended up doing. It was a bit hectic while the site was down and I was neck deep in agar. I may have went a bit overboard from the start but the way I figure it the best way to learn to swim is to jump in with both feet.

I ended up turning a walk in closet into my shroom room and I’m not gonna lie, I was a little scared the first time I fired up the torch in there. I knew not to spray a bunch of iso into my SAB or anything but the fumes get pretty thick in that closet and I just knew I was going to end up doing the world’s best Richard Pryor impersonation.

You dont need to douse the air with lysol and whatnot.

Still air. Not clean air.

I didn’t, I just sprayed iso on a paper towel to wipe stuff down, and on my gloves, but the fumes were so thick they could choke a goat. It’s pretty much a still air room that I set my box up in, even with the door open.

Burned the last house down with a candle. It's not my rule, but it is my fault.

When I was a kid I left a small candle in a jar burning on my dresser, came back later that day to see the jar had burst and there was now wax melted into the carpet in front of my dresser, so I can understand how shit happens sometimes.

Wrap the handle in aluminum foil. Or buy a scalpel and join the cool kids club.

I tried ordering a bunch of scalpels and stuff from outgrow the other day but it didn’t work and they never answered the phone or email.

See this guy gets it, I was just trying to make a few people smile. I mean obviously metal gets hot but I found it funny that with as anal as so many people are about instructions and writing  teks and stuff I had actually never seen it written about how quickly those fuckin handles heat up.

I get it broskie

It's just not a post/thread that is a productive contribution to the Mushroom Cultivation forum, which also happens to be one of the more anal-retentive areas of the shroomery when it comes to rules/etiquite/guidelines lol, no hard feelings by any means.

Might I recommend General Discussion / Pub type sections for such things?

Posts for fun/humor are often found there.
