Do you separate the caps into two half or buy the caps already separated?

I have a cap machine that does 400 at a time. It takes 30 minutes to complete a cycle..

Buying the caps already separated makes all the difference.. (time wise)

But the cap suppliers charge allot more for the separated ones.

i separated them.  the pre separated ones are too pricey.  its not that big a deal.

Hey! This is the exact machine I have for 00 capsules. Bought it cheap on Amazon a couple of years back for non-mushroom purposes, and have used it for mushrooms since then! Good write up. I remember the first time I did it I ended up with powdered turmeric and ginger all over my kitchen.

For separating the caps: do it all at once. You'll get a huge bag of them, likely 1,000. I grab two large mixing bowls and label each one: tops and bottoms. I turn on TV and separate them all in one sitting, then put them into labeled 1gal ziplock baggies for later. Took me less than a half hour.

For weight: I can pack in about 0.25g dry of mushroom powder, but I had to really work on packing those fuckers TIGHT! Don't be afraid to push down into those pills with some force, the pills can take a lot of pressure once you have them all in place.

Also, while the pills are super convienient, I'm not as big of a fan of the trip you get from them. Seems like something happens when digesting the casing along with the powder, but it takes much longer to get lift off, and the ride is not as balanced as I'm used to with any other method. I still make them though, as a lot of people request them.

However these do work great for micro-doses (between 0.1-0.15g) since it's not so much about the trip.

When I timed it out last time I made 200 pills in a little under 90 minutes and I use a pestle and mortar. That was 50g powdered mushies.

hey shape! glad you found this.  yeah i know what you mean about the trip but i just take more 🤷‍♂️

i actually like the cap separating process too.  its good monotonous work.
i used a mortar once and realized a coffee grinder was much easier on my sore ass wrists.  i upgraded to the bullet when my sore ass ears got sick of the noise.

I know this is off topic but just wanted to say I love your pic in your signature of the cubensis in the fishbowl.  So cool looking!  Inspired to make one too.  Was there a tek you followed you could share a link to, or was it simply so basic like "toss in colonized cake, case it, cover top with something to keep humid, place bowl somewhere as an ornament" kinda thing?

hey i appreciate it.  no, no tek to speak of but it's basically a spherical shoebox.  see mushboy writeup.  pretty much its a 1:1 coir to spawn ratio.  i covered it with a cereal bowl.  thats about it.  thanks again.  let me know how it turns out. truth is, if you get used to fruiting shoeboxes and identifyimg proper surface conditions, you can fruit just about anything.  skys the limit!

Anyone have any opinions on tripping with capsule shrooms. I stopped using caps because I thought it made the trip quality suffer. The come up takes forever and is extended. I tried two different kinds of caps too.

Nice write-up tho for people who enjoy caps

For the main festival I made them for, I had so many left over that when I started giving them out to people I was telling them to dump the caps into some juice and down it after I was getting unsatisfied reports and experiences.

People do love their caps though.

i dont take mushrooms in a conventional sense. i dont take them to have a good time or anything like that.  frankly i hate the uptake its the come down that gives me focus and energy and inspiration.
i take it as a pre-workout suppliment, or on days where im just dragging ass.  always seems to get me in gear.  i love it when im doing art or boxing or just working on a project.  i built a fence today and had many good ideas that saved a ton of time and money.  enjoyed the whole process where if i was sober i would have certainly gotten hangry.

  sometimes though i do like a much harder full therapeutic dose, and for that i just dump the caps in a jar of water. shake and chug.  there's definitely a big difference. i suspect the caps break open fairly slowly in the sromach and produces sortof a time release function.  a buddy of mine is presently trying to push the envelope and so far we have gotten as high is 4g in water.  this pe variant is a total mind bender at that level and it seems like its the same trip, it just hits way harder.

anyway thats my experience, others mileages may vary.

I assume you mean big difference in a good way? Is ground up in water a faster come up than chomping on dried whole mushies? Is the trip shortened at all? This is probably what I'll do when I'm going hard.

I'm going to be packing mine in #0 size pills, so I'll see what dosage I can cram in there. Worse come to worse I can always take 2 for a microdose.

I'll probably vac seal them into 1 month supply worth of microdoses with desiccant (however that weighs out).

honestly i dont really know if i can answer that.  let us know. 

i def think the come up is faster if you take straight powder.  ive told friends that if they are ever "on the edge" i will take a  heaping 15 gram scoop, shake it in a jar of water and force them to drink it.

if they still want to die after that, ill let them.

hey guys it's been a while. Crazy fucking times but at least I don't feel weird wearing a mask in the lab...

anyway I wanted to add some capsule machine mastery for you. I figured out how to fill small batches for when you don't have enough to make a full batch of 100.

I don't really feel like writing an entire thing so I will just post some pictures and add some notes I assume you guys can sort it out.  Im not going to tell you how to hand-load the blanks.  If youre at this point, you already have made several thousand pills so you should get it..


So first get some junk mail, like this notice from the bank that says my credit account balance was due in full a month ago.  just cut pieces and put them over the holes you arent using.  tape em if you want.  i didnt. 


Pour some of grandma's ashes on there.  Takes about an oz to do 100 pills so, do math.


I lightly tap the whole machine on the desk to settle the caps full.


oh look a colored pencil works perfect to pack. 


keep pouring on and packing until theyre nice and snug.  Dont go crazy. 


do the damn thing
