Dunedinite, how do you mean loamy soil? Like sandy? How would I make a soil mix like that? Cheers mate

I just realised I'm a complete munter. It's peaty soil  no idea why I've been calling it loamy......... It's soil in my backyard that's basically just 100% broken-down twigs and such. It's very soft, spongy, wood-laden soil.

Hamilton is cranking at the moment after all this cool wet weather.  I don't usually hang around to take pictures - in an out as fast as possible but this find was too good not to.  Check out all those golden tops!

Looks like that patch has been cranking hard all season, judging by the rotting one! Good find!

Yeah doesn't look like anyone has been there for a while.

Seen lots of pins around today, lifting shrubs etc. So its not over yet (no I don't take pins).

Maybe this has just been my year, but I'm seeing a lot more lately.

I swear a new giant strain of subs has naturalised itself near me, see this 20g monster and its friends I found a few weeks back:

I cut the stem to take a spore print and it literally bled blue.

To the few cultivators we have here... I've started a New Zealand-specific thread over at Mushroom Cultivation so we can share info with each other specific to NZ, like where to source stuff, or NZ alternatives.
