From the South today:grin:

P.alutacea

bruising

P.subaeruginosa

I have to say subs are still scarce at the moment but I'm surprised they're out at all to be honest. Most patches are yet to fruit.

Nice find Bob. I've seen a fair few inactives just on my day to day. But still so warm.

@PN, Cheers mate, took a page out of your book. South held the early magic.

@Seekeroftruths, lots of inactives are a good sign, nearly there now. Good luck tracking them down.

@LOMAC, cheers, always a good time to get lost in the forest.

Nice finds!

@Bob do you think its the temps that has prevented fruitings from being more widespread?

Extremely dry summer with late breaking rains is the main reason OOISI. On top of that we had above average temperatures through until mid April.

Usually takes until the start of June most years in my experience before they really get going anyway.

@Pinkban...nice find!

Same to you Bob. Sight for sore eyes

We thought that we would check a few of our early fruiting spots last night, all completely dry and no signs of life bar a few Mycena. Didnt mind going for a walk anyway

Yes, thats a good point. But we have had two finds by Bob and pinkban, so evidently those spots had something the other areas hadn't. The recent rains i think were enough, i suspect those spots had consistently lower temps for fruits to happen.

We need it to get cold.

Pretty sure I found P Alutacea today.I did not pick any as I don't know enough about them yet. These were around a spot I found a nice patch of subs last season but it was still very dry.

Depends where, up here near KB it was 6 degree one morning at about 7:30AM and had several days below 10 though it has warmed up a little the last couple days. If the old pine forests round here hadn't burned down they could be around by now. From memory I think they started fruiting down south first..?

From Bob's report and pics I've seen its started for those who have very good knowledge and a quite a few known patches.

If Bob struggled itd be near impossible for others yet.

If your spot has experienced a continual cold you may have a chance.

There's no way that the norths ready yet. It's not even really green yet. We've had temps in the 3-7c overnight, but the moistures just not there.
