Anyone know of an electric hot plate that can handle an AA 941? Looking for someone who has actually done it to respond.

Hey, this maybe unhelpful, but when I was looking at the AA 21.5qt PC I found a picture on the amazon reviews that did this and they said:

"I had bought a Waring SB30 1300-Watt Portable Single Burner to use with this unit. "

Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/All-American-2-Quart-Pressure-Cooker/dp/B00004S88Z/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=American+Pressure+Canner&qid=1556056547&s=gateway&sr=8-3

It looks like it was meant for this purpose lol.

If it's possible it will most likely be on a restaurant grade hot plate (sometimes called a "fifth burner") or a lab plate.

There's a restaurant supply store across the street that sells a fairly large 1500w single solid electric burner... if that thing doesn't cut it then I don't know anything that will outside of gas (NG or LP). I would love to just get a NG fifth burner and rock, but there's no gas lines here. :frown:

I just wanted to ask in case someone already runs one successfully. Will save me a trip... and possibly a very hard explanation if the burner cracks under the mass of a fully loaded AA 941.

Pro tip: Don’t forget to spray it down with ISO before you open the beers. 😉 I would like to adapt one of these for my coffee.  Nothing starts my day better than working in front of the hood with a hot coffee........, well maybe ending it with a beer hat?

Normally for changing your oil filter. I use this all the time for loosening over tightened lids. Of both sizes too.

Funny you post that today because just earlier today I decided to get something to help me open over tightened lids..

I even thought of getting a oil filter wrench but I also wanted a jar funnel and a jar lifter anyway.
11 bucks for a few useless and a few useful tools all in a kit.

I have that kit too. It came with a presto I bought off CL along with 75 quart
jars. The funnel is a fucking life saver when it comes to WBS and filling jars/bags:lol:

Smart idea! When I first started doing grain jars I’d tighten them to tight, and had a hell of a time trying to get them off in the SAB. Now after the PC cycle I don’t tighten as tight for that reason lol. Pain in the arse!

Yeah it happens. Sometimes it hardly leaves my hand.

Funnel would be dope. I'm still using my hands to load jars.

I got that green funnel at my local feed store for under $5. Works like a charm! I’ve been using our big kitchen spoon to scoop the grains in. Was thinking of getting a spoon specifically for loading jars. There was a nice one at the feed store for $8. Found all this stuff in the canning section.

I’m sure you can find them in other stores too in the canning section.

Walmart's got them with a whole jar loading kit with tongs, a jar grabber, funnel, and a few other little pieces. I don't think it was more than 15-20$

Fucking love the funnel and jar grabber cause you can use it to twist the lid off.

So I've been working on reducing my contam rates in my new house. Short version: had 10%~ contam rate at my old place, nothing changed except the move, but went up to 40%~. So I started watching videos and looking over what other people used and I decided to up a few things in my SAB. First a proper torch for flame sterlizing!

Next is my SAB setup, where I added a cooling rack to get all my work off of solid surfaces.

Now all my work is off any solid surfaces, and my tools will finally get appropriate flame sterilization. I used to have this double alcohol burner, but honestly it is trash like a single one. Highly disappointing. This propane burner makes shit glow red fucking hot, beautiful.

When I checked my plates last night I still had no contam after about 36 hours and it looked like my transfers were already recovering/jumping. Hoping for a huge success, or at least a drop back down to my 10%~ contam rate. I had been running an air purifier for a week, I'd upped my cleaning schedules, and I added these extra tools. Fingers crossed.

EDIT: OH SHIT! I totally forgot I also got one of these with my tax return:

Jesus this feels so much more safe than my last one. There's a whole other pressure gauge that locks in, and the gasket is WAY bigger and easier to check if it's in good shape. The only thing I like better about my old one is that the stopcock (whatever it's called) had a screw on that I could let out the pressure a bit faster than just letting it cool. So, decompression time went from 5min~ to 15min~ better than getting fucking scalded again.
