Nice! I know the filter you are referring to because I've had it bookmarked for 6 months. That is gonna be so
nice having a big hood like that.

First build was 18x24 second was 24x24 and just finishing up a 24x36. Only one more step to make and I’m at the top of the line lol. Still havent attemped a bag to bag transfer tho.

Built this one for cordyceps, gonna be noc’ing up as many jars as I can at a time using an LC dispenser gun. Using a brown rice based sub that I’ll be “sterilizing” using a 55 gallon atmospheric steam sterilizer. Gonna try other containers too but starting with jars and maybe try a run of shoe boxes in unicorn bags. Gonna put the garage to work :solidnod:

I have the blower wired at low speed and it passes the lighter test, but waiting on a cheap anemometer to actually measure the airflow.

Cool.  Is that Astrocel filter a 99.99 or 99.97?  I could only find a 99.97 online that was 6" deep.

It's the 99.97.  I ended up buying it all from Amazon because my head was hurting from the effort of trying to source stuff.

Long time lurker/student of this site but never posted much. Thought I should change that. So finally have my lab setup nearly complete. Pretty happy with it but only time will tell...

I built this 24”x18” 99.99% flow hood and folding table. Getting the molding angle cuts right was a bitch but it turned out pretty good. The magnifying lamp has been super helpful for my agar work. The mini fridge is where I keep some of the goods so that it is readily accessible.

You’ll see my bulk pasteurization contraption modeled off of one of the other teks found here on the forum (can’t find it now, wish I could give credit). It’s a 150 quart cooler with a bucket heater connected to an Inkbird temperature controller. Also has a little hot water circulation pump to ensure even temps. I use a meat temperature probe to confirm internal temp. Flip the drainage cap when done to drain. Works pretty sweet so far.

Lastly, this is my fruiting chamber/greenhouse also modeled off another user (again, can’t find it now. Sucks!). It has a ultrasonic piped in on an Inkbird humidity controller. It has a programmable FAE fan. The fan pushes 110 CFM for 1 minute every 10 minutes. The FC is about 36 cubic feet so this works out to be 6 air exchanges an hour right now but adjustable depending on species. Right now reishi, shiitake, and king oyster logs.

There are two little perlite trays to catch drips off the humidifier and return the moisture to the air and prevent the FEA fan from blowing directly on anything. There is a recirculating fan to keep air moving in the FC between FAE cycles. I put those little vent covers on to baffle the air to avoid blowing directly on anything fruiting. This is the big experiment. No idea how this will really work out but I’m hopeful that it’s programmable nature will let me fine tune it effectively. Although, it is all out in the garage with the cat box and shit so who knows? lol! Cheers!

Hot Plate for 941 [Re: hamloaf]
    #25951098 -

I dug through the old threads and I still can't find a solid answer so I figured I would ask the new tools people...

Anyone know of an electric hot plate that can handle an AA 941? Looking for someone who has actually done it to respond.

(Had a ton of stuff come up. Haven't been able to test the last generation steam pasteurized grain spawn stuff yet. Still on the list.)

Thats tight dude looks like you did your reading. We see so much of these over the top contraptions pop up with little knowledge of what's needed. Way too much for cubes but you could do a lot of exotics and edibles in there if you get it dialed in right.

Hey, this maybe unhelpful, but when I was looking at the AA 21.5qt PC I found a picture on the amazon reviews that did this and they said:

"I had bought a Waring SB30 1300-Watt Portable Single Burner to use with this unit. "

Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/All-American-2-Quart-Pressure-Cooker/dp/B00004S88Z/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=American+Pressure+Canner&qid=1556056547&s=gateway&sr=8-3

It looks like it was meant for this purpose lol.

Cookshacks [Re: hamloaf]
    #25951163 -

*Edit 1 - Got my voltages wrong. :/

-

Was brainstorming... I used to use these (Cookshacks) back in the day:

http://www.cookshack.com/Commercial-Products/Equipment

-

They should work for sterilizing bulk grain spawn. You put two water pans on the bottom rack and a catch pan underneath (no wood chips or pellets). Pipe the residual water vapor out and you're set.

The SM160 is the only one that can run on 120v. Everything else is 240v. You can find used SM260's all day (at a lower price than a new SM160).

I can only vouch for the SM160, and SM260 though. They're the ones I'm familiar with.

They can be programmed to get to a set temperature and hold it for however long, and then set to cool down and hold at an alternate temperature. No reason these wouldn't work for sterilization (these go well over 250degF and the chamber stays 100% humidity).

Some of you more savvy builders out there could no doubt make these types of devices yourselves, and the ones who have some electrical know-how should be able to wire the larger models in with no problems.

(I however will be going with the SM160 when I can. That's well down the road but still a goal.)

That SM160 runs off a 1500w heating element which is probably less electricity to use than rocking two presto's on the stove at once. (The SM260 runs off of two 1500w heating elements, hence the step up to 240v.)

-

Anyone who wants to know how to pump BBQ through one of these on a commercial level just PM me. (Not looking to turn this in to a cooking thread, lol.)

-

Just thought of you guys is all.

L8.
