Yeah theres no way I could just have bottles of alcohol in my house. I would be drinking that shit right away and wouldnt end the bender until it was gone.

Everyone has personality predispositions that make them susceptible to different things. I have taken mdma a handful of times and the second I take the first dose I am in addict mode and want to keep going till I kill 4 doses easily. Sometimes I want to double drop

if I take a psychedelic a gigantic green light goes off in my head and all the rules for myself go out the window. "How fucked up can I get right now?". I go from not interested in alcohol to only wanting to drink more and more or start texting friends for mandy and ket

Its different strokes different folks

everyone has their own trigger. When I was a kid I would literally blow $20 on candy and eat it in one sitting. Couldn't have any on hand without binging. Nowadays its different. Candy doesn't interest me

Different things affect different people differently at different phases in life for different reasons. If I wasn't social that week or month, I wouldn't have a single sip of alc

I'm a functional alcoholic. I still need to hit up a meeting or something but I keep making lame ass excuses.

In my experience if you are functional about it you outsmart yourself and keep making lame excuses. Its only if you are in pain and frustrated that you start making changes

Yeah but really though all it's gonna take is one stupid DUU or wrong move and I'd be fucked. Plus there's just bunch of other issues. If I start drinking I want cocaine etc etc

I was a functional alcoholic for a good while. I hope you manage to find a way to kick it soon man. That was a gnarly period of my life that ended up with me nearly killing myself a bunch of times through reckless behaviour.

Moving put a stop to it for me.

Ugh yeah dude my life has been a whirlwind since I started drinking more heavily. Can't say it isn't fun at times but it's definitely starting to wear on me emotionally

I feel ya. I remember thinking what it must've been doing to my liver too. Got to the point I could down a pint of Vodka and still remain functional.

That can't be good for you.

Alcohol I can take or leave more than weed, although there are a lot of alcoholics on both side of my family. I'll drink it if I have it around, but I'll go weeks or months without it and not really miss it too much. And I only really drink to excess a handful of times a year when partying with people I don't see often. With weed I have a lot less self control. Haven't gone more than a couple days without smoking it since legalization. It used to be more of a hassle to buy it for me.

It’s a myth that you have to hit rock bottom. You can take action and fix the problem before you bottom out. In a sense, every recovering alcoholic does this because the only real rock bottom is death.

I’ll tell you one thing about alcoholic drinking: Wherever you’re at, it gets worse.

I'm kinda glad alcohol gives me zero euphoria, doesn't stop me drinking 18 beers before I go waste my paycheck at the pub every weekend though. I rarely drink more than once a week but when I do I binge, according to my doctor I'm an alcoholic.

Come to think about it I can't remember a week where I haven't drunk to excess on a Wednesday or Saturday for a few years. I usually wake up full of regret and waste the following day, maybe I do have a problem

You hit the nail on the head dude. Alcohol will take everything you've got and then come back for more.

YES, you are in control.  get out of here with that nonsense.  saying someone is not in control is just more enabling babble.

We have so much alcohol in our house, it astonishes nearly everyone who comes over. You would die via cirrhosis of the liver before you could make a dent in it. I poured out a few gallons of various hard alcohols not too long ago.

My body only allows for 2-3 drinks a day at this point. Think the liver wants more of a marathon than a sprint. Don’t kill your organs just because booze is in front of you, it is so easy to get, make, etc... don’t feel like you need to drink it all in one sitting. Settle down lol.

I find it interesting that psychedelics make you want to get as fucked up as possible...

...When I'm flying high on LSD or mushrooms or mescaline I feel the epitome content and most certainly not interested in anything else or trying to get as high/fucked up as possible. Besides maybe a joint or a big balloon of nitrous oxide lol. Psychedelics are the ultimate "high" for me and I have no interest in anything else while I'm soaring.

And about "everyone has their own trigger"....I honestly feel that I do not have any sort of "trigger" or lack of self control when it comes to any drug  , at all.

I totally concur :yesnod: . I too feel stuff that like that is purely enabling babble.

Everything is in the person's control...it's entirely the person's choices and decisions at play...Addiction is the result of a person's choices, simple as that. These things aren't jumping down a person's throat on their own, the person has to make the choice to consume it or not.

It is in your controlled, but temptation is real, and people that don't think you just break after so much temptation are acting like hipumans are supposed to be what we aren't.

If someone pokes me every day, you bet one day I'll take that finger.
This person has a prosthetic finger. I'm not evil. This hypothetical person is a show off. You should hate them too.

If there is pot in my house, after w few weeks I'll have a stressful day and smoke it

nah, i get it.  i'm an addict.  but i don't use that as an excuse for myself or for others.  i know i have an opiate problem and that i can't live a productive, healthy, ultimately-satisfying lifestyle if i choose to use.

i smoke cannabis like a chimney from the moment i wake up till i go to bed, but i can also quit anytime (i'm on "vacation" now, far away from my home, and haven't smoked in near two weeks; each summer i'm where i am now and won't smoke cannabis for 8-14 weeks until i return home)

i have a couple shots of whiskey most nites after work (physical labor), but not always, and i don't have to.  it's a choice.  the bottle can sit for weeks untouched, or i can kill a bottle in 2-3 weeks.

the running theme here is that it is a voluntary choice i make, and i recognize that.  just like NOT using opiates is a choice i made long ago when i realized i had a problem.  i can smoke and drink and maintain a remotely healthy lifestyle.  solid sleep, solid diet.  if my drinking ever interfered with my ability to function, i'd stop.

i much prefer running a chainsaw stoned, but it's not an essential and i can and do work somedays without smoking, even if i have two joints rolled for the day and the bowl/bud in my day-pack next to my wedges and tools.

So glad I hate alcohol. I don't drink enough water as is and when I do force myself to drink with my friends I usually will drink and hang about for hours. I end up everytime with a horrid headache or stomachache. I guess kratom is my alcohol. It definitely helps me become more social and willing to put up with others bullshit.
