So what? The people who choose OTD will do so because they see it as a refuge from censorship.
People who choose this forum will choose it as a refuge from negativity.
The people who choose this already look down on the people who will choose OTD and vice versa. The only thing this does is keep those two groups seperate.

I didn't say anything about it "damaging" OTD, although I do believe it will reduce traffic in that forum pretty substantially.
Why?
What it's doing already is increasing the ratio of idiotic posts to posts of substance...
That ratio has always been cyclical. My guess is that many people will post in both forums; few, if any, will abandon OTD entirely.
...and at the same time lowering the reputation of the members who choose to participate in OTD.
I don't understand how the reputation of members who choose to post in OTD is being lowered... their reputations were forged in OTD in the first place, were they not? Besides, there are many many (perhaps even a numerical majority of) posters whose OTD posts could be lifted wholesale from OTD and plunked down here without causing an eyebrow to raise. Note I use the word "posters", not "posts".
...it certainly is changing OTD and how it's looked upon by the community in a big way.
Which community? The Shroomery community or the online mushroom enthusiast community as a whole?

The purpose for the Chill forum is different than the OTD. Some will prefer one over the other, but many will choose both. I personally like both forums, and I wish I had more time right now to spend in the OTD -- and to just whore it up in general -- I feel like I'm missing out lately...

To me, Jorma Kaukonen's excellence on acoustic never really fully translated onto(into?) his electric work(check out "embryonic journey" from surrealistic pillow)............funny thing here, B4 Jack casssidy told Jorma of the pending airplane gig where you got paid $50 a week whether or not you gigged, Jorma had never used a pick! I'm convinced that the almost supernatural empathy these peoploe displayed on their instruments was largely due to the amount of time spent jamming on various chemicals..........

The only book on the Airplane i own is entitled(brilliant, this!) "The Jefferson Airplane" written by one of the Gr8est rock/jazz journalists of all time imho,the late Ralph J. Gleason..........There's also an excellent Unauthorized book on the Dead written by none other than Hank Harrison(Courtney Love's father) whci i would highly recommend to any fan of late 60's psycho-delia..............

Back to the Airplane for a second. I got to see their ill-fated full-reunion tour just before it broke up. It was the full cast including Spencer Dryden before he died. It was a good show, with a Hot Tuna acoustic set right in the middle!
I think it was their second date, of the tour, and it was at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. They were all fighting, very publicly -- Jorma Kaukonen introduced Grace Slick as "Grace Motherfucking Slick -- you just knew it wasn't going to last, and I think after their third date, they broke up again...

Well that was the beauty and the weakness of the mighty Airplane. Their foundation was the tri-axis of Marty Balin, Slick/Kantner(my personal favorite) and of course Jorma and Jack. It was a combination while creating some amazing music was also doomed by the very instabilility of it's musical constituency to impode. I, for one, didn't even notice that the actual founder of the band(Marty Balin) got squeezed out like an unwanted zit on the 1971 album "Bark"(with the funny fish cover). Like some of the best bands, the internal makeup was just too volotile to last for any real length of time, when all their personal differences were taken into considertion, it's azazing that they stayed together as long as they did.
