Re: Tossing contam spawn outside? [Re: verum subsequentis] * 1

My place is mold and mildew city...also have contamed tubs all over. It's cold and I don't want to take them outside yet. Plus I'm a procrastinator.

I guess the point of all this is don't be scared of "spore load" nonsense. We live in a world full of spores and such that are just waiting for the right conditions. This is why we go to great lengths to protect our spawn until it's fully colonized and can defend itself.

I don't lose much to contamination, probably less than average, and I live in an old house with visible mold all over. Plus it's drafty and I have forced air heating.

Get your agar and grain prep game dialed in, and you really won't need to sweat spore load.

Depending on the temperature outside you can give it a try. My old buddy tossed his contaminated stuff in the garden and it yielded some outdoor fruits. I myself love burying spent substrates in a garden between July 15th and August 15th.... the only time here in canada that the temperatures are right for a outdoor grow.

So yes, it can work but it's not guaranteed.

People with 1000+ posts: "Throw that shit out!"

People with >50 posts:  "its's still good"

Your call OP.

Did anyone really suggest it's good? Most people just said to bury it outside, which wouldn't make a lot of problems.

That means opening the bag, which is retarded.

In the trash it should go, that thing is nothing but trich.

If you have outdoor space then composte your contaminated and spent subs. I've got a large garden and I just pile it all up till next season when I mix it into my soil beds. Worms love it.

I don't think it's retarted. The entire world is heavily infested with trich. I wouldn't open it up and then go to SAB work in the same clothes or anything but i see no harm in dumping her in the garden. I have a veritable mountain of spent sub and spawn in my garden. Like the above poster, mine is just composting and waiting to be tilled into the soil.

I never said anything about contams in the work space, don't know why it keeps coming back to that.

My main concern is breathing in a bunch of trich that has dropped a spore load.

I see a lot of new folk on here wanting to cling to their spawn in some way after it goes bad, and they shouldn't.  This is a hobby where learning to just chuck things when they go bad is a good thing.

I'm a fan of opening jars and bags inside a 5 gal bucket full of water. Well I've never done bags but I would if I did em. I see no problem. Then I pour it all into a pit in my backyard (large field). I think the water catches 99+% of spores and bacteria. If I were in the city I'd probably toss everything in the trash.

i don't trip on breathing it in. I just figure out which way the wind is blowing and open in in such a way that the evil spore cloud blows away from me.

A little common sense goes a long way. Don't stuff your head in a tub-o-green. Don't waste fertilizer. Minimize organic waste filled plastic bags buried underground. Bathe. Wash your hands before you; eat, SAB/FH, spawn, masturbate, brush your teeth, cook, and after most of these activities as well...
