Beto is an effeminate nerd

Go SANDERS

Jk I hardly know who he is, but it sounds like he had a proper savage childhood

If he was really in the Cult of the Dead Cow under the moniker "Psychedelic Warlord" that's pretty badass

The US could very seriously use a technologically adept administration.

Saw this. I’m yawning. On Friday his campaign declined to disclose first day totals, then all of a sudden on Monday he’s got juuuusssttt barely enough money to break Bernie’s record?

He very well may have raised $6.1M on his first day (I’ve seen some reports that he simply rolled his $4.5M leftover from his Senate campaign into his presidential fund), but the important thing to note here is that he is the only candidate to decline to release number of individual contributors and other info that others have disclosed when first day numbers are shared. Also important to note that Beto’s rich as hell, his wife is a billionaire, and he’s got the Obama DNC bundlers on his team.

To me, this huge Beto first day haul means bad news for Kamala. Aside from some early endorsements in her home state, her path to victory isn’t looking so great. It could also signal a push from big donors to line up behind someone as Biden tip toes around announcing a run.

But as far as Bernie is concerned, I’m not too worried about Beto as a threat.  For all his apparent charm and charisma, he’s got just as many stains on his record as Biden does, and things like abandoning the fossil fuel pledge and effectively getting his GOP friend elected over a Democrat in a tight race in Texas isn’t going to play well with democratic voters.

I have to think the establishment knows this, maybe they’re just hoping Biden/Kamala/Beto can all peel off enough delegates in the South/CA/TX (respectively) that it denies Bernie 50.1% of delegates, and we are stuck with a contested convention in Milwaukee.

I guess we’ll see.

I think it'd be cool to get someone like Beto on a high ranking Cyber-khan administrative position - he's one of the very few highly technologically proficient politicians I know of - but he's definitely not my first, second, or maybe even third choice for the Pres.

As far as how incredibly important it is to have someone of expertise neat the top, helping shift policy realistically adapted to the technology of the last 30~ years... I don't think that can be overstated considering the only 'real' war we're in right now, or have been for the last 10~+ years is 'cybernetic'/covert in nature.

Bernie doesn't support zero immigration, obviously, but he understands that unfettered immigration is something that the powerful elite want, and benefit from, more than the middle class.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25879538#25879538

In the video you posted "open borders" was said, to which Bernie countered.

Neither you, nor me, nor any of the other Bernie supporters, nor Bernie want open borders. We all agree that border protections are necessary. We all also agree that increased border protections will present little net positive gain for our citizens and economy and might actually create a net loss.

So to be clear, qman's staunch anti-immigration (a zero immigration policy) is not the same as what qman has presented, this despite the fact that qman as well as most of us agree that immigration should be controlled.

The discussion is about the economic IMPACT of illegal immigration, Bernie agrees exactly with me on the issue.

Nah, you’ve moved the goal posts. Bernie might agree on the economic impact of immigration on a very fundamental level, but that doesn’t mean he believes zero immigration is what we should be striving for. There is nuance to his position that you’ve chosen to ignore. Let’s not pretend that some immigration versus no immigration is magically not an economic debate, because if we ignore that then we are living in the land of make believe.

I agree that Bernie has never suggested that zero immigration should be US policy, but that's not really the point here at all.

He clearly stated the same exact concerns on immigration that I do. Those concerns exist regardless of the level of immigration, there's no rationalizing his immigration philosophy away in my opinion.

I think people on the left would throw a shit fit if they heard Bernie on the immigration issue.

He’s a legacy politician (his dad), a centrist Dem who votes way too often with the GOP in Congress despite being a deep blue district, got a billionaire wife, umm that’s about it. He has no real vision or policy agenda, but he’s seen as a cool dude who low info voter liberals can project their own values on to, hence the “white Obama” label. But unlike Obama, he’s not a great campaigner. Sure he managed to develop a formidable grassroots network for his failed Senate run, but at the end of the day he lost to Ted fucking Cruz. He’s got a terrible record (especially in relation to banks and oil), and he hasn’t even mustered a new agenda to distract from that like Harris, Gillibrand, and Booker have.

He’s coasting on vague charisma and the backing of the Democratic establishment. I don’t see a path to victory for him unless the rest of the field drops out before Super Tuesday, allowing the centrist vote to coalesce around him. Hopefully he just siphons off some of Biden’s support. If Bernie can hang on through Super Tuesday, he’s got the later states in the bag.

Oh? That's quite a switch up for cali - if I remember last cycles correctly, Cali was in June. - but good to have an actual major blue state out ahead.

I hate the primary process  so convoluted - probably purposely so that manipulation seems more opaque - why not just dictate a single fucking method, and a single day it takes place on :kingcrankey:
How other states vote should not be an influencing factor, especially when leveraged over months.

Yeah, I first got super involved in the primary process in 2015 working with the Sanders campaign and my god is it a convoluted shitshow. And it yeah it definitely makes manipulation more opaque: for example Nevada was stolen from Bernie on some bullshit.

I think CA moving up was a big reason why the establishment was lining up behind Kamala (CA Senator) but her poll numbers have dropped and remain stagnant, so the idea of her winning California springboarding her into frontrunner status is tenuous.

I've never seen Beto until Jimmy Dore posted a video of him:
