Have you EVER had confirmed cobweb mold on your Agar/Cakes/Grain?
    #25808197 -

I have never seen ANYONE actually have cobweb mold. Why do so many people post asking if they have it? Can anyone confirm growing this commonly assumed mold? Pics for proof or I won't believe you.

EDIT: This is not intended to be super serious. I guess I just don't get why so many people ask if they have myc or cobweb mold. I feel like it is not common at all.

I've grown every color of the rainbow or close enough. Not much true blue colors. I didn't vent nor use proper anything back in the day.

I believe you Quirk.
:fistbump:

Why does everyone ask if they have it? Seriously?

Hmm... ok. I may have actually had this once. But I wouldn't have been confusing it with myc. It was obv contam.

Cobweb is super RARE IMO.
Most cob web questions on this forum are not cobweb.

Its very obvious and it's unlikely that you would only have like one sketch jar in the case you fucked up along these lines

...speaking as a newb, I think it's part of the early training when one first enters the hobby.  From day one I saw tons of references to cobweb, read forums warning countless growers of probable cobweb--it's almost one of the first fears ingrained in a newb, I think.  But it's part of learning process.  There's so much information and so many people posting that a newb has to learn maybe who to listen to and who to take a little less seriously--some folks are just plain brilliant; some folks are kind of wrong sometimes.  And outdated information--took me a while to stop reading forum discussions from 2005 (I still do, but a little less obediently).  There are so many forums on the different mush-sites that have discussions identifying "cobweb" that the newbs, myself definitely included, assume it's the Baba Yaga of growing and that the mushroom John Wick is coming to kick our asses for killing his dog...

...just a newb thought

I've had it maybe once in spawn jars and I think once off a tray.

It comes from the early years of the Shroomery. Dude when I was first exposed to this site folks were using drip shields and only misting the walls of their FC

Really? Damn. That sucks. I started growing about a year ago and haven't seen this myself

I'm glad there's no drip guards any more.

last night I did a Google image search for cobweb mold.  Though I'm not real experienced yet, I think there were tons of images misidentified as cobweb on all kinds of sites (basing that on the trusted and verified "not cobweb" id's I've seen on our board).  I think newbs just kind of get the fear of cobweb from so many directions that we jump to that conclusion at the first site of anything fuzz that's not very WHITE.  But the point of the thread seems spot on--most times it's just the boogeyman.

And thanks for your input on my last couple of threads with my SB grow--very much appreciated!!!

one source that really helped me start to relax a bit about cobweb was from KIzzie (circa 2013)...he offers a pretty thorough rundown of cobweb and how uncommon it really is...I found that thread really helpful in my newbdom:

So you're saying you think "Cobweb mold" is really just a catchall for people saying "Weird myc" or "I don't know what myc looks like"?
