It's more than likely just mycelium. I had the same thing. Eat 'em.

I had the same thing happen to me, and I ate them. Probably just mycelium.

Hi Jerry95,
No worries:-) What happens is that the humidity in your terrainum has changed. And when this happens the mycelium on your cakes says, "Hey, growing conditions are back...lets spread!!!" And the mycelium starts to grow up the base of the mushroom.

It's perfectly fine to eat a mushroom that has mycelium growing on it.

Also, for further referrence, mushrooms don't grow where there's cobweb mold. For example, you've got a 1 inch section on a cake and there are no mushrooms growing on it, there's a possiblitiy you've got cobweb mold.

Now there's no way a mushroom will grow on top of cobweb mold like it does mycelium. Thats why cobweb mold is such a problem for growers. Wherever it grows, mushrooms don't:-(
