Do opiates have a place in healthy recreational use?
    #25801385 -

What was your dosing? what did you consume? what was your overall experience? Does the type of person matter?

Obviously, the potential for abuse is far higher in heroin, vs a gardener who makes some opium tea to enjoy a few months out of the year. So with such a wide array of products this is a fairly complicated question... what do you guys think about healthy opium use, and not so healthy use? Is there even a healthy day to day use for any opiates?

No, and friends don’t let friends use opiates recreationally.

It almost always starts out occasional or recreational.

it's hard to stop the seed from growing once it's planted, although you'll usually feel like you have control of things

Maybe in tea form made from poppy pods. But otherwise no, not safe for rec use.

Every day would be a slippery slope even with poppy tea imo. The every day part makes even the least harmful ones pretty potent on the psyche

nobody makes opium tea for 'a few months out of the year' without eventually beginning to make it every week of every month out of the year.

I am a fucking addict though. I cant even buy a bag of candy and only have some a couple times a month. That shit will be gone in a day or two. same for every drug. I just can't do it. And I don't think its just a personal thing.. I think anyone fucking around with shit like opiates or anything that can make you forget all your bullshit so easily so quick, is going to eventually end up frying whatever it is in their brain that allows them to balance their intake of pleasureful shit.

Once a person realizes drugs like this just take you away from your one and only life, and take you off course of becoming all you can be, it just sounds stupid to want to do them at all. What is the point of nodding off once a month, if you can't do it everyday? What is the point in feeling fucking amazing as a result of doing absolutely fucking nothing with yourself? we have a built in system in our brain to make us feel absolutely amazing as a result of doing productive shit that will benefit our whole being in the future... why short circuit that... its a copout. that shit is weak.

Opiates are like cheating life's natural pleasures. And we cheat life when we use it :strokebeard:

I have bad enough self control just with weed, not going to mess with anything seriously addictive for recreation. I've had enough opioids in medical settings to know that I enjoy them way too much.

Iv'e done opium tea maybe 3 times in my life, and I have poppies growing in my yard. Iv'e smoked weed considerably more than that, but not in the last month... mushrooms I consume far more frequently, that's honestly more my pace lol

I make real deal absinthe, with statistically significant percentages of thujone, and that is probably my single largest vice... I just love the taste, smell, and effects of thujone and ethanol... but the last time I drank a large amount was 3 days ago, it's not an every day thing.

I think addiction has quite a lot to do with the person, and every person has a threshold, every substance has an addiction factor, and when the substance exceeds the addiction threshold for the person they're hooked.

Now iv'e never done heroin, I don't think there is a person on the planet who can use heroin and come out fine lol

You sound like the perfect candidate for addiction.

‘The last time i drank a large amount was 3 days ago’ what does that matter. 3 days isnt shit. I consider it a problem if i cant go a month without alcohol. Its a mental thing. We get attatched to shit the same. Everyone of us. Addiction has a lot to do with being human. Person to person it is not very different. Its just popular to say this. Its popular to actually believe it. But we all have a dopamine system that is just as easily corruptable from one person to the next. The thing thats so different person to person is how each person views their addiction. How much each person values their health and well being. How each person defines a healthy lifestyle.

Now I am speaking without a in depth experience in Opiates so it doesn't matter much.. however. Since kratom is a opioid I can speak in relation to that. I bought a Kilo in 2016 and its still going strong. I do enjoy the effects a lot (mainly when combined with weed) but never feel the urge to do it. In some cases even with an urge to do it I felt too lazy to swallow 4 measly capsules. But don't mention the time I drove in the aftermath of a blizzard to buy an eight of bud.
Weed is more habit forming and addicting than my experience with kratom by far. Personal thing. The numbing effects of opioids are a special occasion for me as I'm not always keen to them.

In conclusion I believe in certain selected individuals it can be safely used recreationally. Myself perhaps being one of them.

But whats the point, its not even worth the trouble/risk. Just smoke some weed.

I did say it was my largest vice didn't I? you make good points, but you are inferring something that isn't true. I know I'm clinically addicted to things, and I'm ok with it, I just refuse to let my vices interfere with my productivity. I consider it a different malady, clinical addiction vs addiction that basically drives you down into a hole.

Now what does make a difference in how easily people get addicted to things is their daily life. how fulfilling is your every day life?

In my case I have a very entertaining life, I enjoy my work, I have many hobbies. But when it comes to ethanol, it's a social thing, when I'm not getting my fix from reading, hobbies, etc, people are far more pleasant if both they and I are drinking, preferably heavily... there are few people I actually want to spend time with, my immediate family, a few extend family members, like 3 other people... that's not a long list. So, when it comes to drinking alcohol, it's probably because I'm just not that into whatever I'm doing.

If I ever wanted to quit drinking all together, I know what I would have to do, find more interesting ways to spend my down time. And I would argue that that it's the same for most people, if you can find a way to be fulfilled emotionally and mentally, organically instead of artificially you could break your addiction if you happened to be so inclined.

This is where I come up with everyone is different, it really has nothing to do with a biological tolerance. you are correct in saying that everyone is pretty much the same biologically, but people are extremely different in circumstance and environment. If a persons life is largely unsatisfying, frustrating, oppressive, then I just don't see a way they aren't going to be addicted to something, and have it hurt them.

I view all substances pretty much the same, they are all just FUKITOL

Because that is how everyone has used them (I can debate shamanistic practice but for the sake of brevity I am just ignoring those guys)

Heroin, and drugs like it, make it substantially more difficult to enjoy your day to day life, to find things fulfilling, and that's why I think it's so dangerous.

this is a bad question for a drug using/seeking website. of course most people here are going to say no because of the fallout they have seen in their personal lives.

the main issue is people saying daily use, i would argue recreation would mean in the least following a schedule of use that allows for tolerance to not sky rocket.

there are tons of people that use opiates in a responsible manner, often for recreation. when you start pushing the envelope or are shooting to nod then you are no longer using in a safe manner.

this is splitting hairs but there is a big difference in taking 10 or 20 mgs of oxy vs using 80 mgs and nodding out. people might classify their use differently to justify their use but if we are being honest with ourselves we know when we have crossed the line.

you could use this question for any chemical, i have issues with controlling my alcohol consumption to the point that i no longer drink but i am not going to question others ability to use that chemical in a responsible way. the difference is the person using being able to acknowledge where they are in their use and their tendencies. im not going to shit on someone splitting a bottle of wine over dinner or have a few beers just because i tend to drink half a liter of high proof alcohol when i drink.

if people are using opiates off the street they probably are not very concerned about their well being as you would have to life under a rock to not know about the risks in that scene.

Theres a point with opioids that everyone has.  I've known hundreds of opioid users, they either stopped early or got addicted.  Chippers do exist, but they are extremely rare.  I've never met any chippers that were older.

Please do NOT use opiates in any form unless a doctor prescribes it in a situation where refusing is not an option.

Opium is for old people who want to die and want to start by not shitting anymore.

I wouldn't recommend trying to use recreationally because most people don't have the will power and they are too big of pussy ass little bitches to go through withdrawals when they get in too deep and they just keep using. I have been using opiates in a recreational manner for over 25 years and I love them. They give a nice a nice relaxing buzz and take away my general body pain.

All opioids from kratom or pod tea, to heroin are addicting. Be careful.

My favorite is opium, then pod putty, then krat, IV diluadid, Roxi, and last is Heroin.

My good friend is in his 50s and has used them all his life.

He seems to use them once or twice a week (typically on the weekend in the evening). says hes being doing that around 20 years

Says hes never been addicted and gets high off a couple hydro 10s (literally a couple as in 20mg).

So I guess it is possible. Probably a rare case though as he has incredible self control with drugs.

that's the worse way
go through withdrawls and cross side effects from 300 chemicals

opiates aren't really that bad
you just get the flu when you stop using them
and you get itchy

I don't know why people are so evil, but obviously the people that get these drugs are prone to risky behaviour

i wish vicoden or something was more over the counter
