I have a problem with road rage.. Nothing bad has happened yet, thankfully. * 1
    #25796472 -

When someone honks at me while driving I get angry, and have thoughts that if they were to try and kill me, I'd kill them first.

What the heck is that? It's road rage. It's a psychological condition that is able to be remedied.

Just because you know how to drive right, doesn't mean that you should use your horn in an aggressive manner, right?

Let's go over the basic thought progression of getting honked at.

ok: Scenario: you get honked at, hard, blaring horn.
What is your reaction?-- SHock right>? questioning

then, WHAT IS THE EMOTION THAT FOLLOWS SHOCK ? -----

you guessed it -- ANGER

The horn is the number one cause of death by road rage, that's for sure, the other is the vehicle itself and the third the person driving.

I want to show you all what happens when you drive angry. Your toe gets cut off.

And you might learn a new philosophy.

It’s because driving naturally amps you up to expecting fast adjustments and what not.  You did not be like water, you be’d like a gorilla.  Be more like water..

Why would you take it personally? Don’t even give them the satisfaction of knowing they got under your skin.

All of us are mushroom pickers though

It can be a friendly thing

If I seen you i would honk at you

Only hope can give rise to the emotion we call despair. But it is nearly impossible for a man to try to live without hope, so I guess that leaves Man no choice but to walk around with despair as his companion.

I used to have SERIOUS issues with Road Rage. Ended up getting into several full on fist fights because of it.

But then, I used to have serious problems with aggression all round. I used to use it as a way to get high. Not healthy.

Now days, I couldn't care less when someone fucks me up on the road - not gonna try teach them a lesson cause there's a million more idiots that will take their place even if I do.

If you're aggressive when driving, look at your aggression in your whole life - cause that's where it stems from.

Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not.

Be a less shitty driver and you won't get honked at as often.

My dad will smile and wave when other drivers get pissed off at him. He is an "old man who doesn't give a shit any more" style bad driver.

I feel ya man.

I too entertain the occasional murder phantasy on the road. Or in the street when I have to skip walk around dog-shit.

Been having lots of anger of late. Need to get back into yoga I think

Anger is an energy. Maintain a clm mind when driving. It is ab so lutely POINTLESS to get angry when honked at. WHY? Chill fire!:smirk:

I could be wrong
I could be right
I could be wrong
I could be right
Could be black
I could be white
I could be right
I could be wrong
I could be black
I could be white
They put a hot wire to my head
'Cause of the things I did and said
They made these feelings go away
Model citizen in every way
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy

Whenever someone gets mad at me and beeps then speeds up to look at me, I always start laughing. They get so mad. I agree with you.

When I was a smoker and a tail gater had finally earned it I would flick my cig butt up over my car and at nighttime you could see a little orange explosion as it hit their windshield..  that would usually kick shit off if that’s what they had in mind..

it's not.

But when it does happen I'm usually in the right and the other person is violating some basic right of way law. Pisses me off to.

In todays world it seems to be SHOOT FIRST, ask questions later.

I'd say the reactive mind is the cause of road rage. All physical violence comes from a violent mind.

How we react is largely dependent on how we choose to view what happens. Many say driving and
intimate relationships are the best ways to learn about the mind, and how we cause our own suffering.

The irrational belief, "Other drivers must behave as I want them to behave (politely)" is a cognitive distortion.

It can help to remember almost everything we condemn others for we've done ourselves. We're hypocrites!

Me too!

I always thought road rage was an interesting effect of driving on the psychology of the driver. Nice introspection Fiery.

I think it comes down to a couple things. One, driving is dangerous so when most peoe drive, they are kinda on edge, maybe even subconsciously.

Secondly, when u drive, u probably want to get somewhere on time. This time-limiting factor could add to that anger.

Thirdly, hearing a blarring horn is sort of like a "what the fuck man!" sort of sound. Not a pleasant sound.

For me, being honked at gets me going "what the hell?" instead of "WHAT THE FUCK?!". That water sign yo.
