That sounds very possible.

I'm guessing not. That would be so Geraldine Ferraro. I don't think a female senator already in national prominence would be aspiring to VP, particularly with the trends of the last few years. She might settle for that though if someone older like Bernie got the nomination and asked her.

Quote:
Bernie Sanders is adding firepower to his political team ahead of a potential 2020 campaign, locking down digital alumni who were key to his surprise performance in 2016 and recruiting the media production company that helped launch Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to prominence.

The flurry of activity, detailed by four people familiar with the campaign’s thinking, is the latest sign that the Vermont senator is closing in on a decision on a second run for the White House.

Means of Production, the filmmaking cooperative that created the viral campaign video that propelled Ocasio-Cortez’s House campaign, is in talks with the Sanders team about a major role in 2020. And two people who powered Sanders’ record-breaking small-dollar fundraising operation in 2016 have agreed to join a subsequent presidential bid if it materializes, according to a Sanders campaign aide: Tim Tagaris and Robin Curran, his digital fundraising director and digital production director in 2016, respectively.

I would love to see that line up: Sanders, Gabbard, Warren... I can't really see how MSM candidates would stand a chance against these three.

This election is going to be strange, because there is almost no personal smear that could possibly matter in American politics anymore. That means it's going to have to be more substantive debate. If America is okay with the president 'grabbing them by the pussy', and fucking pornstars, and shady business dealings, etc. The personal flaws of 2020 candidates will pale in comparison.

Trump will smear them to death, that's his strongest characteristic.  That factor makes it very difficult to have "substantive debate" in my opinion.

Yeah, but at this point, his flaws are so exposed, that it will just be comical to most people. I don't think very many people respect him anymore, and if people don't respect him, they will not respect his opinions of other people. It's not like Trump identified particularly deep character flaws in his opponents. He smeared them based on surface things, like their hand size, or generalizations about their character.

Yet, it's amazing effective. Trump knows how to manage the mob very well, he's a master of it.

It doesn't matter how many of his flaws are exposed, he will go lower than anyone can go and the crazy thing is that people respect that form of power.

Trump is 100x times a better campaigner than actual President, he's living just for that 2020 election because knows he's so very good at it.

Here's how:

The majority of people still watch (and trust) MSM.  The MSM is already starting to smear the non-establishment candidates.

Even if 60% of the population prefers a non-establishment candidate, their vote being split 3 ways could give the establishment candidate a nice shot.

I hope the people you mentioned recognize this and drop out early in order to give the front-runner a better chance.

Unfortunately, they will still NEVER get good press coverage from the MSM. They will push the establishment candidate with all their might.  It will be like Bernie/Clinton all over again.

You make a very good point. I think there may be even more establishment candidates though, and Warren will be taking votes from both establishment and non-establishment voters.

I might also point out that the news media has been criticized more than ever in recent years, for being deceitful and biased. Many people (particularly democrats) are very well aware of the fact that the news media gave us Trump, and I would hope that they keep that in mind when they go to vote.

Democratic voters watched Hillary Clinton, queen of the establishment democrats, fail to beat the worst Republican candidate in US history. I think that will be something that they take into consideration also.

On top of all of that, Sanders, Gabbard, and Warren will all be speaking a message that Democratic voters want to hear. A message about single payer, the environment, criminal justice reform, etc. The reason Trump won his primary, is because there were a lot of candidates, and they were generally all saying the same thing. Trump was saying something different, and he was saying it loudly.

Sanders is likely to start at the very top of the polls this election, if he runs. That is a dramatic difference from his last run, and it is something that will be impossible to ignore. Also, DWS is not going to be involved in this election, and it will hopefully not be rigged in anyone's favor, at least not quite so well as it was for Clinton.

I agree.  While the MSM can't ignore Bernie this time, they CAN (and will) still paint him as a crazy man.

The media talked pretty bad about Trump throughout his run, and he won.

Let's see if the DNC, won't fuck over Bernie(or insert non-establishment candidate) again. I am amazed that rank and file Dem voters can trust the nomination process at this point.

Well, I guess you were right Falcon, the MSM has already begun attacking Bernie. This was pretty disgusting too. I'm really getting tired of this identity politics horse shit.

They're attacking Sanders for being an old white man, while forgetting that he's the old white man who marched with MLK to fight racism in America.

I found this article from the New York Post that is somewhat positive for Bernie. It makes some vague attack on Obama though, and I don't really understand what the point of it is.

Toxic feminism :toast:

That's what I'm calling it nowadays also.

How do you see the toxic feminists as enemies in the fight for medicare for all?

The main way I see "TF's" (catchy, huh?) as standing in the way of single payer, is the fact that their voting record is ideologically inconsistent, and they will vote for a woman, even if she is a Republican, over a man, particularly a white man. They voted for Clinton over Bernie for this reason also.

You can't fight for medicare for all
if you deny the validity of existence of people who need medical help to assuage mental illness
