Then intent was to get people to not vote for Hilary. That’s why there were pro stein ads and pro Bernie ads. The most effective part of the campaign was stoking resentment in Bernie voters. It worked very well.

There were also pro-Hillary ads:

Did you seriously not know that?

That is NOT a pro Hillary ad...

qman said:
Can you quantify the impact of ads on potential consumers?  No, it's complete guess work and nothing more.

Can you quantify the impact of posts on FB that are political in nature on potential voters?  No.

I'm not in denial that CNN, the MSM and social media ATTEMPT to influence the political opinions of potential voters, but we can't quantify it because no one lives in a vacuum, correct?

I cannot quantify it, no, that's above my pay grade. Can it be quantified? I'd imagine to some degree with statistical analysis it could be, yes, but why does it matter? That is not what we're arguing about. Are you making the specious argument that because it hasn't been quantified that it's reasonably likely to be zero?

You're just resorting to logical fallacies to prevent from admitting you're wrong, and further hurting your credibility in the process; you're not helping your position here.

What's the logical fallacy?  I never stated ads have zero impact, I stated it's impossible to quantify the impact on potential consumers or voters.

Human decision making is a very complex process, you're attempting to simplify it by making some generalizations.

What am I wrong about exactly?

I don’t know if my favorite part of that is “the obama White House,” the scary Isis looking typeface or the primacy of a foreign flag (Iraqi I believe)

That is my favorite example of political disinformation I’ve seen so far and you fell for  it. Look at the date. 3 weeks after Orlando, so that post was probably made right after the attack.

I don't get your point at all.  Sure, if I'm a bigot, that that post might make me anti-Hillary, but if I'm a bigot I'm already anti-Hillary.

If you're saying that the ad is more click-bait than it is pro-Hillary, then I say EXACTLY.  :cookiemonster:

He's saying that it sways people who haven't decided if they're bigots yet. People are not born racist or not racist, it's a learned behavior and there is no fine line one crosses over, it's a spectrum. Do you not think these ads and posts influenced anyone?

There's a lot of evidence out there saying the Russian Facebook ads also helped Hillary.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

At no point throughout my schooling was there 'almost complete voluntary segregation'. There was some, because of differences in culture, but I hung out with plenty of Mexicans and black kids growing up. I would go as far to say I hung out with at least as many minorities as white kids.

Any more examples of “pro hillary” posts? The first was was the best laugh ive had all day.

Any “gays for hillary” written in a splattered cum font with naked dudes making out on a gay pride parade float perhaps?

There may be a more fitting logical fallacy, but an obvious one is moving the goal posts. No one ever argued the effects were quantifiable, we argued they were real. You have done nothing to dispute that.

Are you actually contending that ads and posts that not only reached but was acknowledged by 10's of millions of people had no impact? It's a yes or no question, stop deflecting and answer it like a grown adult.

Right, and Hillary's personally endorsed campagin ads were actually pro Trump if you're anti-intellectual, but we both know classifying them as such would be facitious.

Qman said he voted for Obama. He is also pretty damn anti-Muslim immigrant. I think that “pro hillary” ad was targeted exactly at people like him: the democrats want to save the world’s Muslims. There are plenty of economic democrats who are fearful of cultural issues like that. Fal thinks that ad will appeal to Muslims. Sure great it nailed down that 1% of the demographic, while inflaming the repitilan tribal fears using visual imagery like a font that looks like the ISIS flag and a woman in a hijab commanding you to “support hillary.”

The first thing that came to mind when I saw that post from a distance was it looks very similar to one of those videos terrorist release saying good bye to their families before they blow themselves up.

I would have loved to see the comment section of that post.

Right. Their argument here seems completely disingenuous. You can debate the degree of impact the campaign had, you can't in good faith debate that it didn't have an impact, and if that's the best "pro hillary" ad you can find then either you're not trying very hard or they were not pro Hillary.

We don't know the impact because no human operates in a vacuum, so there's no method to quantify the impact.

If the FB post impacted one persons vote, it had an impact. Obviously a very minute impact, but still technically an impact.

c'mon dude.  you're talking about one of the most influential times in a child's development.  a child is learning all sorts of behavior at those ages that isn't innate.

studies show that children of parents who have a diverse group of friends demonstrate less racial bias (as measured by putting a lineup in front of kids and asking them which ones look like the best candidates for friendship) at just 3 to 4 years of age, much less at ten years of age, than children whose parents have a less diverse group of friends.

kids are just soaking it all up from infancy onward.

I'm sorry if the innate aspect of tribalism upsets you, but as a Jew you have a better understanding of it than most people would be my guess.

No, qman is right there. When I was in the third grade my best friend was indian, most of my friends were black, and a couple of them were white. In the fourth grade my parents wanted to move to a "better" neighborhood (see: white). By the fifth grade all of my friends were white except my best friend who was a light shade of hispanic. That's how I learned my parents were racist.

I'm confused, what did moving to a "better" neighborhood have to do with your choice of friends at school?

And how would that make you conclude your "parents were racist"?

I had a very diverse group of friends. There was Nimrod Bernstein the Orthodox Jew, Miguel Goldman the Mexican Jew, Nigel Schmul the British Jew and Haile Selassie Weinstein the Ethiopian Jew.

Well it was a joke, but you said children coordinate colors by the 5th grade. In the third grade I had a pretty full spectrum, by the 5th grade everyone was white. The last part was facitious, I knew my parents were racist based on things they did and said before we ever planned to move.
