They explain that with the rest of the stuff. Isolating individual ideas that are intended to be part of a larger concept is an easy way to discredit something. A pyramid is just a pile of rocks.

I see your point, but what is your idea of the bigger picture of the whole thing as it relates to how you should live your life? What I, personally, got out of it was that you should try to do things without them being contrived. Which is another double bind in and of itself. It's all about being "here and now" when, to me, now is just as non-real as the concept of future and past.

OP Id say I've found this meaning and purpose in life and work. No way of explaining how though, my almost 30 year long chain of experiences is an anomaly of reality unlike any other to ever exist

I'd love to hear you try and explain it, at least. Some answer would be nice from someone who has found it.

Why does it HAVE to mean something?  Why is "meaningless" seen as a negative?

Why am I perceived as depressed or negative for not expecting things out of life?

You wasted your time, no one else did.  I also wonder how young you are that you are upset about "wasting the better half of my high school years."

I don't know a single adult who considers those years anything but a bumble.

In my 20s. High school is irrelevant to the matter. It's more about pouring over something to realize there wasn't much there to begin with.

It's not irrelevant to you, or why was it your primary example?  Don't lie when you're looking for honesty.

Oh boy, are you in for a lot of disappointment in life.  If you deconstruct any philosophy you'll eventually find it means nothing much.

You make your own life.  You find your own meaning.

That's it.

That meaning can change at any time as well.

Most often the need to express waste.

It was the point in my life when I was obsessed with that kind of stuff, nothing more as far as my non-subconscious can tell me. If you really want to look into it, maybe I felt like I should have done more with my high school years?

I understand that much at this point in my life. My only issue with it is that I can't find any meaning within myself that really boils down to anything like you've already said. And if it all boils down to nothing and you don't find pleasure without meaning then why live?

I know that makes me sound suicidal, which I'm not, (You'll just have to take my word for it) but I'll ask it again; why even get out of bed in the morning? I can be comfortable for as long as I don't get bed sores.

Edit: Jesus fuck, maybe I am depressed.

Maybe you are, and that doesn't make you wrong or a bad person.

I had a lot of success with therapy for depression.

I also felt a lot better when I stopped trying to subscribe to ready-made philosophy.

This could just be my own cognitive dissonance ignoring the fact but I don't think I look for a ready-made philosophy at all anymore. If anything I think I entertain everything and ultimately believe nothing but that doesn't mean I don't feel like I haven't come across some truths about the nature of life.

This specific question I'm posing seems to me like the ultimate question with no satiable answer. "Why am I here?" I'm looking to see if anyone thinks they've figured it out for themselves but it seems to me like no one else has a clue either other than there really is no answer.

There really isn't, and people who claim to have found it usually end up being right cunts.

As a child I was always taking stuff apart to figure out how it worked. Ive been just building stuff as far back as I can remember. Naturally I studied engineering although Id be surprised if I could land a truly fulfilling job. But yeah to sum it up I like building stuff and one day hope to work for myself doing just that. Thats the purpose Ive given myself and I intend to live my life that way.

I think my philosophy won't make sense to anyone who isn't me, but I am stoked to be alive with a decent degree of freedom. It's as if every morning I wake up; I've just reloaded into my giant sandbox video game where there's so much left to do and discover and achieve. And I need to win or else I'll be lamefully left in the dust. I just have to go and do it. And while im doing it, Im seeing glimpses of and developing my idea of my best end goal that I feel would be closest to a state of nirvana to see me out to the next life. Keep that light at the end of the tunnel set in sight, and experience everything i have to do to get there to the fullest. Theres no free time, no down time, just life time.

That might wont resonate with you though. It probably takes years of specific experiences to develop psychology like that.

You need some real hobbies that you can develop into your retirement plan. That's a legit thing to have in life. Don't invest all your happiness in people (which eventually disappear or die leaving you ruined and empty) or things that depreciate or lack continuous value

I can resonate with that. Each life is one step closer to heaven on Earth and you're here for eternity. But what if you're gay? What if you'll never reproduce and your life's work will either live on in cultural legacy or ultimately be abandoned? Without children, what next life are you building today for? Or have I misunderstood what you're getting at?

I need to creampie some pussy.

Not what I meant. My end goal in this life is what I like to think I work for and I have fun getting there. When I get there it's like I reached nirvana and "won" to a degree, in my own sense. I want that end goal before I die and go to the next life

Purpose is what we give ourselves. Meaning is what we apply it to.

It's every mans job to figure out what his own is.

Or not.

as a gay man i take care of a family member and have rescue animals, it isn't the same as  having kids but it fills a similar roll. adopt a kid if that is your hang up, it isn't like it has to be your biological child to have the same connection with them.

the apathy i feel is going along with a society that doesn't align with my moral values and prides itself on ignorance. i have goals but they are all so long term it is difficult to maintain the motivation as a tangible drive, don't get me wrong there are times i am very driven and inspired but the financial realities.

i used to be an alcoholic because it would blot out the pressure of it all for awhile but eventually it stopped working. it doesn't matter how i try and appreciate my good experiences past, current, and future the foreboding reality that i am helpless to change the sadistic and greedy nature of our society and the cohesive exploitation of the world.

attempting to be aware and focused on the truth only makes the glaring issues with the modern inception of the human race.

Mine was no uncommon experience. I had read too much positive science and lived too much positive life. In the eagerness of youth I had made the ancient mistake of pursuing Truth too relentlessly. I had torn her veils from her, and the sight was too terrible for me to stand. In brief, I lost my fine faiths in pretty well everything except humanity, and the humanity I retained faith in was a very stark humanity indeed. This long sickness of pessimism is too well known to most of us to be detailed here. Let it suffice to state that I had it very bad. I meditated suicide coolly, as a Greek philosopher might. My regret was that there were too many dependent directly upon me for food and shelter for me to quit living.
