no .... I heard about otd thru hearsay and rumors not that the pilots are given amphetamines. I agree with that.

I do not disagree with giving pilots amphetamines  (if i was a pilot...id sure as hell want some phet :smile:  )...so long as they are not in the air for too long...or have too much to give them over confidence.

Some pilots fly sorties reaching ten hours.. and 24 hour missions are run to some extent (transports)

As far as too much confidence... in the military pilot culture you are breed to become confident and cocky in your actions. You are flying a multi-million dollar, supersonic, highly agile war machine capable of killing many lives at the touch of a button or pull of a trigger... sometimes it's pretty hard not to get cocky/over-confident.

What about a sleeping pilot? Operating a sophisticated killing machine is very exhausting work and sometimes it's better to give the pilots amphetamines than to let them fly while sleeping. Amphetamines should only be used in real war if they really need the pilots in the air(training more pilots would be better, but that's very expensive).
