2 Hours isn’t really enough time for a spore print. I would leave it for at least 8 hours. What colour of paper are you using? I suspect it might be Lepista nuda, in which case it would have a very light coloured spore print. You would be better to use dark coloured paper or foil.

I think you're right. I waited longer for the spore print, and it was very light colored brown, almost peachy colored. I'm not going to eat it, but thanks for helping identify it. Didn't bother to put it on foil.

If it is Lepista it would have a light pinkish beige colour, like light skin colour. But the fact you're saying 'brown' makes me question - rusty brown would indicate Cortinarius! Make sure you get a good strong spore print.

Sometimes I can get good prints in less than 2 hours, but some mushrooms can be really stubborn, sometimes it takes more than 8 hours, up to a day sometimes. It might help to wet the cap a little sometimes.

As long as there is a heavy spore deposit so you can see the true color of the print, I have had some eager mushrooms give healthy prints in 30min with the longest being 36hrs for a chanterelle print.
