The cyans I find never have flat caps like that. Always wavy even as pins. Either way, I'm hyped af for this season.

Im stoked Its been pouring rain the last 24 hours where im at near Astoria. All my patches have thick matts of mycelium. I think its gonna be an early season unlike last year when they finally showed up on oct friday the 13th.

Awesome to see that it has begun! Y'all got me excited and had to check a cyan spot yesterday. Seems a little early still . Went to the mountains on unrelated business today and stumbled across the biggest amanitas I've ever seen. Then while following some chantrelles and lions mane we just happened to find a few of these little blue buddies. I'm sure they are gymns, can anyone tell me what kind?

No cyans in the Willamette Valley yet. Might go up to the delta next weekend to check my spots from last year.

There are a decent amount of blue bruising mushrooms that are not Psilocybe or Panaeolus. It's my one issue with "if it's blue it's true". Granted, most of these mushrooms don't look like actives and are mostly harmless, but still is a slippery slope. Blue bruising mycena, even IIRC, blue bruising non active pseudocyanea.

Rubroboletus satanas bruises blue and will cause horrible sickness. Suillellus luridus also bruises blue but can be eaten if great care is taken. I know someone will say gills and pores are obvious, but not as obvious as a blue color, and there are plenty beginner IDs not knowing the difference between gills and pores.

It's a great guide but certainly not a rule of thumb.

Cultivated forest patch I thought got zapped by the summer drought, some edges survived


Can we make a rule against quoting entire posts with pictures just to comment useless stuff like 'cool find' or 'I wanna find some...'. so pointless it makes reading the thread very redundant.

In account settings you can toggle how to handle images in posts. Toggle to show image as link or whatever. Shroomery pictures and links will always be secure. You can choose how to handle off site links as well. Disabling signatures and seeing links for post images has made browsing here a much better experience. Plus it's that much more of a surprise when I see a cool sig when opening someone's profile.

It's especially helpful when I'm out in the field on a break and want to do a few things that would otherwise be data heavy.
