Spores to agar +6weeks 1st growth is contam
    #25556703 -

After six weeks the spores germinated. But then it germinated contamination.

I want to know if that sounds right. Or did I have a vector somewhere?

Backstory
I have a spore print, roughly a year and half old, foolishly did not refrigerate. I put it on agar and waited. There was no contam visible until I saw on the 6th week some growth. So I transferred and found that it was green mold. How is that possible.

This growth came from various spore sites and appeared roughly at the same time.

Sounds as though the environment wasn't right for growth until week 6? Temp maybe?

Its the agar formulation. But what does that have to do with contam.

If it were the medium mixture I can't see why that the cotam spores would take 6 weeks to germinate..It would have to be moisture or temperature levels I should think, the nutrients would then affect how the spores grew..Either way I should think either your spore samples aren't clean, the trich spores must be mixed in with the prints, or introduced at inoculation
