Thanks Sara, those pics are very helpful to me. I am confident that my culture is indeed the target species. Also I’m not an expert either

Cool! Have ya decided on a sub yet?

I can confirm Wor kman was right- these are definitely secondary decomposers that don't need any wood at all. In fact, adding wood really slows them down in my experience.  I know CaptainF ture has used wood in his examples but I think that's what made them take so long.

Good to know, though I wasn’t thinking wood myself. Given how many reports of them growing on sugarcane bagasse have been made, I was thinking they maybe behave more like a grass lover. But maybe they like the composting factor as well. I was gonna run it in bulk bags and I was thinking a coir heavy sub. Sterilization of the coir helps break it down more. I think they will like it. Gonna try a few things sub wise colonized under sterile conditions.

Aw you're lucky! I was part of that old group on the hunting side hearing about loblloly pine and sweet gum.  The synonymity of caeru/weilii for awhile confused the optimum substrate for many of the old (and new) hands ugh!  I can't remember exactly where but I think there was even a time so long ago where Wo rkma n considered these one of the warm woodland species in section Cordisporae.

Why didn't that Hamilton sugarcane episode come out any sooner GRRRRR. Damn you Hamilton Morris damn youuuuu!! :oldman2:  :facepalm3:
