Damn those things are beautiful. They always just look so surreal to me for some reason. They look really meaty too.

I just did the grain -  filter patch bag route for the first time last night. Basically the same as what you have there. Only difference is that I pasteurized instead of sterilized. If it works out for me, I'll probably switch to this method. I just seems so clean and simple.

Cool.

I do not think that there is a difference between pasteurization and
sterilization, as far as the substrate goes....when colonizing in a
filter patch sack anyway.

I always pasteurize my casing soils.

(well, I have done a few outdoor SGFC grows that I did not do anything
but moisten the casing soil, but I never sterilize it)

Take care,

JD

P.S. The Aloha Reishi is beginning to colonize the two plates that
I put it onto, so you can expect word on that soon.

:murray:

I'm so excited about that project. I'm thinking of doing boxes AND buckets for that one.

hey JD,
do you have an automated setup where you fruit these "long-developers" like caerulescens/semperviva/hispanica in?

how do you maintain the right conditions over a long period of time?

edit:

congrats to the trusted cultivator tag.
well deserved...:hatsoff:

Very pretty fruits on this species.

Hey HP,  Thanks for the good word.

Actually, I find that SGFCs do a better job of not drenching these
species, and that is what I have had the most success with.

I am growing a range of species at any one time...if I dedicated a
GH to mexicanae, then I could probably get more success with one.

Good luck,

JD

my pleasure!  :super:

yeah, adjusting the humidifiers for a greenhouse can fuck up a lot of projects. im thinking about a mini gh with just trays of perlite on each shelf with the bags on top. slits for fae and misting twice a day or so. you have to lower your sights if you are at work all day.

im following this one for sure. good luck to you also.  :awesome:

I am sure that a GH can be properly configured for this species,
especially if it is dedicated to this an similar species.

Thanks Maynard.  These are indeed large.  I weighted one fruit that
came to 35 grams.  Not bulk, but one big fruit.

These are quite strong as well.  I am sure that .5 gram dry will work well.

Anything happening with these?

did you let these consolidate after the blocks reached 100% or did they go straight in to fruiting?

I've got some fully colonized but they look so thin I'm thinking of leaving them for two weeks or a month before opening up to the air.

I got a small set of very strong prints from those few clusters.
They were really big fruits!

I am seeing new pins.  I will take a photo.

Take care,

JD
